Futureproofing the Titan Network
« on: May 12, 2015, 03:17:26 AM »
Hey all, in case you missed it (because I suspect a lot of you just skip over the Announcement forum... you know who you are...), I wanted to post a message here so that you can ask questions or give us feedback about a planned migration of the Titan Network to using SSL for encryption and enabling IPv6 on our server.

Here's the announcement.  Discuss away!  :)

That SSL, is that the open-source kind that got "heart bleed"?

IPv6, yup, that one has been coming around the corner for decades!  Ok, maybe 1 decade, or was it 7 years, well something like that, and about time too.

Disclaimers, everybody needs disclaimers.

Dr. Jones: And how are you doing Mr. Smith?
Mr. Smith: I think I'm getting worse.  I thought you said that stuff would cure me.
Dr. Jones: Obvisously, you didn't read the disclaimer.

That's the idea, to prevent impact to you.  ;)

This is a good thing and has my full support. It's well past time that sites start implementing default encryption and IPv6, so i'm glad to see it happening. Using https is just a good idea in general and recent developments have made it so that it really should be the default. (And i'm not just referring to China's Great Cannon, although that is a factor.)
So far so good. Onward and upward!

The fact that this picture is showing up in back-to-back posts just makes it funnier.

I made an error in mounting the filesystems for the new sites, so I need to take Faces back down for a bit.  Shouldn't be more than an hour (1:00pm EST or so).  Sorry!

Seems to still be a glitch somewhere, can't register cause my name is already in use - which is probably my original "faces" account, but says account can't be found when trying to request/reset password...

Can you PM me the username and email you are trying to register with? I'll take a look at the database.

I removed your email since you generally don't want to post that on a public forum.

If you click the little chat bubble under Sekoia's name, it will take you to a page where you can send a Personal Message that only Sekoia can see.

Hiya, guys.  I dunno if it's related to the upgrades or something else, but I cannot update my Faces profile.  I uploaded a photo without issue, but the "Edit Profile" page gives me a "Please correct errors" message only it isn't showing errors.   :P  I think I saw similar issues in the Faces forum, but they're from ages ago, so I thought this might be better.

Also, I love you guys.  Thanks for bringing our city back.  <3 <3 <3

Thanks for reporting the Faces issue! It's fixed now, you should be able to update your Faces profile again. :)
