CIT & Sentinel > Suggestions and Discussion
Out of Curiosity: where does Sentinel get its data from?
bitloader:
Being a bit of a programmer myself, I was just wondering...
Where does Sentinel get its data from?
1. Does Sentinel get its data directly from the game by accessing some of its files or part of its core?
or
2. does it connect to the CoH-server's database within the heart of NCsoft to pull the data out?
Option 1 seems most likely.

Magic(TM).
If you've ever read the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher, Sentinel works a lot like the faeries that clean Harry's apartment. So long as he doesn't ask too many questions or tell anyone about them, they're happy to do the housekeeping. If he does... *poof*
GuyPerfect:
Without admitting to anything, I'd like to suggest the possibility that it can somehow tap into the game while it's running.
Codewalker:
See, I would've just said that I can definitively rule out (2) and left it at that. :P

Every time you log in, my cell phone starts beeping. I call Positron, and while you're playing, he tells me what your current status is. "Okay, he just reached level 15, and got the Negotiator badge." One of the reasons we have so many people with the Titan Network these days is that if one of us is already on the phone, someone else can field the next player that logs in. I know this sounds kind of tedious, and sometimes these phone calls can go on for HOURS.
But hey, we really like you guys, so that's what we're willing to do.
