Anyone finding themselves locked out of the main CoH forums this morning? I reported it on Twitter and a few others have also found they are locked out too.

Yes, and the last timestamp on the latest posts indicates that it happened around 5:00am Eastern.  We can see the forums; we just can't log in to them.

I am at work so I can't check but maybe it is time for people to start moving their belongings elsewhere... Hitstreak mentionned yesterday that the forums would not last after Nov 30 anyway...

The City of Heroes Forever forums are open and they are intended to be a replacement for the official ones and a gathering place for Paragon refugees... http://cohforever.org/

Then of course, there is the Titan Network  ;)

Yep, me too - just tried 3 times and all I kept getting was the "invalid name/password, you've used up 3 out of 5 attempts..." etc box.

Too early to start waving the conspiracy bat around - might just be some sort of database meltdown with the skeleton staffing there.

But nevertheless we should be prepared that someone has just yanked the plug without so much as a word to us. Wouldn't be the first time they've done something like that after all, right?

It's not the first time this has happened, so I think it's more likely something broken rather than done on purpose.

The big question is if anyone will bother to fix it.

Same. I came here, wondering if it was just me. I can't say I'm glad it's not, but... well, at least I know.

I've been having issues with the CoH forums myself for the past 6 months myself.  It seems like this has been an ongoing problem with the boards.

These sometimes happen when they do big upgrades or maintenances to the billing system.

I was curious why that was...

I even tried to log-in to my NCSoft account to check if that worked... it did, so it is just an issue with the forums I guess.  How would any of us let them know its a problem?

I wouldn't use the word "replace," but there's no word for "take over for you and make everything better almost immediately," so we just say "replace."

Isn't Thursday a normal maintenance day for the game -- perhaps the login server is impacted as well.  I'm at work now, so I don't know.  I also was not able to login into the forums earlier this morning though and I just chalked it up to that.

It's not the first time this has happened, so I think it's more likely something broken rather than done on purpose.

The big question is if anyone will bother to fix it.

Yea, first time I experienced that issue I was confused and requested support, I was clarified it was part of maintenance, although it sounds more like something in maintenance went wrong.

I would not be shocked if they don't bother to fix it, given how the forums have gone south since the last announcement. At least one of the religious threads got locked out between last night and this morning, shame... was getting fun and even Arcanaville started taking part in it.

I ponder if they locked it all intentionally knowing things would get worse after the political debate :p

Got to admit, I would not objectively blame them if they keep them locked for a full week if not until the game goes down. If i was in their shoes, and had the morals NCSoft has I would do my best to block players from organizing further protests (like the one I posted about one-star rating Guild Wars and Lineage 2 at amazon.com)
For the sake of the community: please stop the cultural "research" in your attempt to put blame on the game's cancelation.

It's sickening to see the community sink that low. It's worse to see the community does not get it.

I'm signing off and taking a break, blindly hope things change.

I fail to see how the debate is relevant, but I've also seen people seriously suggest on here that we start pressuring our respective representatives to Washington to threaten to pull US troop support to the UN forces along the DMZ. I guess nothing should surprise me on the internet, and yet it still does, from time to time.  :)

There have been a lot of threads arguing both, religion and politics. The debate may have encouraged even more of those? Then again, I think NCSoft is ok with those, they distract from the idea of boycots and protest campaigns.

As for me. Whatever the issue was, it seems to be cleared up.
