It's not the first time this has happened, so I think it's more likely something broken rather than done on purpose.

The big question is if anyone will bother to fix it.

Yea, first time I experienced that issue I was confused and requested support, I was clarified it was part of maintenance, although it sounds more like something in maintenance went wrong.

I would not be shocked if they don't bother to fix it, given how the forums have gone south since the last announcement. At least one of the religious threads got locked out between last night and this morning, shame... was getting fun and even Arcanaville started taking part in it.

I ponder if they locked it all intentionally knowing things would get worse after the political debate :p

Got to admit, I would not objectively blame them if they keep them locked for a full week if not until the game goes down. If i was in their shoes, and had the morals NCSoft has I would do my best to block players from organizing further protests (like the one I posted about one-star rating Guild Wars and Lineage 2 at amazon.com)
For the sake of the community: please stop the cultural "research" in your attempt to put blame on the game's cancelation.

It's sickening to see the community sink that low. It's worse to see the community does not get it.

I'm signing off and taking a break, blindly hope things change.

I fail to see how the debate is relevant, but I've also seen people seriously suggest on here that we start pressuring our respective representatives to Washington to threaten to pull US troop support to the UN forces along the DMZ. I guess nothing should surprise me on the internet, and yet it still does, from time to time.  :)
I wouldn't use the word "replace," but there's no word for "take over for you and make everything better almost immediately," so we just say "replace."

There have been a lot of threads arguing both, religion and politics. The debate may have encouraged even more of those? Then again, I think NCSoft is ok with those, they distract from the idea of boycots and protest campaigns.

As for me. Whatever the issue was, it seems to be cleared up.
