Again, what I have said is taken way out into left field. At no time did I ever say that NCSoft should turn over the account user information. Here's the way I see it.
NCSoft turns over the account information specifically related to the CoX accounts (all your purchases, vet time, etc). Nothing else. No Credit Card info, No email addresses, no names. You log into NCSoft, verify yourself, you get a key-code to your account information. You create a new account with the new owners, give them your key-code, and it restores all your purchases to you. NCSoft doesn't violate any privacy information, just gives the new owners a list of what each account had, and a key-code to go with that information. You enter that information into your NEW account with the new owners, and you have your stuff restored to you. Simple. And a win-win for both NCSoft (who, by showing loyalty to the old players, the old players will once again trust NCSoft) and the new owners (who get instant get a lot more of the old players to come back).
On July 10th, on page 216, I posted:
http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php/topic,9675.msg147945.html#msg147945Thus, IMHO, it is in the best interest of both NCSoft and the new owners to have this in the deal.
Will I play again without my old account stuff? Yes. Will I pay the new owners as much without that old information? No. The game was shut down once, and will shut down again. I won't pay twice for what I feel I should already have unless it's absolutely necessary.
As far as the new owners are concerned, if the account information isn't there, they might get a temporary increase in revenue, but that will be short lived without the larger player-base they would have if all the veterans come back.
P.S. I can understand the loss of character information. The information that connects characters to accounts in Paragon Studios may be gone, but NCSoft still should have the account purchases. Account purchases like Boxed expansions (CoH DvD edition, CoV, Good Vs Evil edition, Going Rogue, etc.), Virtual expansions (Costume sets, power sets, character slots, etc...), veteran rewards, and anything else you paid money for, should ALL go to the new owners.
