Title: Did a Beast/Trick Arrow build. Tell me what you think.
Post by: brothermutant on September 08, 2015, 12:07:52 AM
Only thing I really didn't like about this build was that I didn't get the +resist/+Def IOs for my pets (except the one for the first pets). If I were to change anything, the first pets would only get 4 or 5 of the MM special set, and fill that last slot or two with one or two +resist IOs so all my pets were a little tougher. Let me know what you think.

I had a Beast/Trick Arrow MM but didn't make it past lvl 40 before the game shut down. Her name was Red Ridin' Hood, always sporting the Veteran Reward Power, Ghost Slayer Axe, when not shooting arrows.  I like your build, it's way stronger on survivability than my planned build.  In a way, feel like it has too much survivability and not enough recharge to keep the main powers as close to perma as possible.  Poison Gas, Acid, Disruption, Oil Slick and Emp.

Remember when enemies are attacking you, only your highest defense number is used against the enemy's type and position attack.  So if a Hellion throws a melee punch at you for smashing damage, only your smashing defense is used (47.7% smashing defense vs 25% melee defense).  If an IDF used an AoE attack with 40% energy damage and 60% smashing damage, only your 49.1% Energy Defense would be used as it's your highest defense number of the 3 (AoE 42.8% def and Smashing 47.7% def).  If you dodge the attack with your Energy defense, the whole attack misses you.

There's pretty much no fire/cold damage past level 35 so I wouldn't bother building for that.  AoE damage is relatively weak compared to melee/ranged.  I would skip building for that as well.  Alot of builds have great success just building for S/L defense since majority of the damage types are S/L or a mix of S/L and something else.  I like building for S/L/E since incarnate content has a lot of pure energy attacks from clockwork and IDF.

This is the build I would have probably ended with.  Speedy Ninjas was pretty fun, Beast pets would probably be the same.  Poison Gas, Acid and Disruption are all perma to keep enemy damage and damage resist debuffed. Flash Arrow to keep me equivalent softcap to S/L/E (No proc otherwise it alerts them to me). Some end mod IOs in Emp Arrow to bring enemy endurance to 0.  Use Reactive Radial so pets can light Oil Slick or use Pyronic Judgement.  Rebirth Radial as my only heal.  I almost want to pair Beast Mastery with another secondary like Time, Dark, Traps or FF.  The stronger their defense is, less of a chance Fortify Pack would be needed to keep their Pack Mentality up all the time.
