Title: "10 MMOs to be thankful for...

by type" (http://massivelyop.com/2015/11/26/perfect-ten-ten-mmos-to-be-thankful-for-by-type/)

This is all subjective in the end, but I find that my experiences with the genre over the last 17ish years or so mesh up fairly closely. This is probably not something a lot of people here would want to read where CoH is concerned. It mentions CoH in a very positive light, but also realistically from our current perspective I think.

  • EverQuest
  • Horizons or AC2
  • CoH or DAoC
  • EVE and Lineage (1 or 2)
  • CoH with an honorable mention to early SWG
  • FFXIV
  • ESO
  • It was EQ2, now there isn't one.
  • To move the genre forward, Crowfall, CU, something like that.
  • My favorite is still CoH, otherwise I really don't have a current favorite.

Dude Horizons was so good while it lasted!  Just wish everything they wanted to do could have happened.

Horizons is still around. It's called Istaria now. The last I played it there was still a small but loyal fan base mostly playing dragons.

I met my wife playing that game. In hindsight I think the best part of it was the people.

I can only think of four that even left a positive impression.

1: CoX (Naturally.) 2. Star Wars Galaxies. 3. The Matrix Online (Combat was interesting, I enjoyed it quite a bit.) 4. WoW (Currently sucks, but it's still around, and Legion looks promising, so.)

I heard it was still around.  It just changed so much from their original plan for the game.  But the community was really good.  Are dragons finally full grown yet?

Dragons can grow up, fly, craft, build lairs, keep hoards, etc.
