I STILL really miss knocking clockwork off of the rooftops in Steel Canyon. Also Drek map farming WAAAY back in the day.
What AV or bad guy group do you miss the most? Maybe the least?
-
Steel Canyon! I was trying to think of the name of that zone.
What was the zone where you could fly through the hole of a giant donut?
I think for me I would geek out most over two sets of villains:
a) The nondescript hoods in the Hollows, just because my dozens of characters spent so many countless hours there
b) The funky snow monsters in the winter event. I spent plenty of hours learning to time my sliding attacks on those frozen lakes, and I loved the whole ambiance of that zone - the alpine setting, the ski slope, the kitschy but haunting music...
-
Miss the most: Rikti
I don't know why but there was something so satisfying about killing them and watching them crumple to the floor. Bonus points if the last hit had KB so they went flying into a wall, limbs flailing in that hilarious way that only ragdoll physics can deliver.
Miss the least: Malta/Knives of Artemis
They definitely lived up to their role as an endgame enemy group. They could debuff you into the ground, chain CC you to death, and put out serious damage. That's not even including the damn Sappers. Two hits from one of them and your blue bar was completely empty. Just like that, you've got no offense OR defense and the red numbers just came rolling over you until you either popped an inspiration or faceplanted.
KoA wasn't nearly as dangerous but every. single. mob had caltrops. Especially in tight office maps, if you couldn't fly you might as well just get used to running in slow motion every fight. The damn things stuck around after the mob that set them up died too so just killing them wasn't enough to keep it from happening.
Special mention to The Council for being the most boring, homogeneous group in the game. Most of them were literally just recolors of each other with an extra power or two tossed in. I did enjoy the "chuffchuffchuff" sound their Gatling guns made though. Really made fights with them feel like mass shootouts with bullets flying all over the place.

That was Faultline.
-
The 5th Column.
-
My ice blaster used to like taking out Freaks whenever possible.
-
The 5th Column.
Yes! And I stress "No Council." Gimme Nazis to beat on! 5th Column had cooler uniforms too.
My first main, pre-Majadi, had a backstory attached to 5th Column. I was sort of relieved when Cryptic changed the Column, because he was getting way too oppressively dark for my own good.
-
Whoever shut down the game! I would kill them to death!
-
No particular group, but I liked sniping the colorful totems in the SE corner of Talos, and at higher levels sniping the snipers in Founders' Falls.
-
I miss taking down the "Baby New Year".
-
I would take my plant troller 'Hot Pistil' back into Bricks and wipe out Council mobs! It was so much fun to see a Confused mob being crushed by creepers and lashed by my Flytrap :)

You just have to be the only one not wearing pants don't you
-
My fav villains to fight were The Lost & Freakshow. To the poster asking about flying through the donut hole: It was call "Drenched Donuts" located in Faultline very close to where you zone in.
-
That was Faultline.
YES, thank you!
I was always highly amused that these super-powered characters generally had to take public transit trains to get where they were going.
-
Malta Group, specifically the robots. I loved it when they would form a Zeus unit. And I lived to fight the Kronos Titan. It just feel so super-heroey high stakes sci-fi coolness,
-
I loved fighting Crey, Devouring Earth, Carnies, Family, and Freakshow. I hate fighting against Nemesis, Circle of Thorns and Malta Operatives.
-
I liked CoT. I used to love those Oranbega missions where if you died, they took your body to a prison. Majadi was an archaeologist, so they kinda fit into part of her story.
Any missions that involved caves were tops for me.
-
I remember when I learned I could knock CoT off of the rooftops in KR. They were definitely my favorite for a while back then.

One of my favorite TF's was the Crey one. I think that was the one in Brickstown.

That was Manticore.

That was Manticore.
Ah ok. Been a few years since I played,

I loved fighting Freakshow only because of the very first time I encountered them. I had won the battle and had turned to leave when one rezzed right up behind me. I still beat it but it definitely caused me to soil my armor. I miss this every day.

LOL. The first time I saw a Freak rez I was like "What the f**!"
This game had so many great mob types and looks - I kind of liked the Carnies look the best.

That reminded me of the first time I encountered an ArchnoBot. It was in a gray cave, probably Steel Canyon, anyway, I don't like spiders, and seeing a giant one crawling towards me, nearly made me scream like a little girl. And I wasn't running a sonic blaster.
-
Arachnos (made me feel like i was a real hero/villain fighting them), Malta (Black Helicopters and robots !), the Gold Brickers were AMAZEING and i wish they had done more with them into the higher levels.
-
I once declared war on Malta....if i ever saw them on the street, i would stop and "arrest" them.

Classic.

Hahahahahahahahahaha!

I remember encountering Red Caps for the first time and one of the enemies threw a person on you. I'm like "Did I saw a little dude hoped on my head and exploded or I'm just seeing things?"

That is a bangin costume.
Anyway, I'll have to go with Malta. Sappers were... you know. My first encounter with a sapper was not a victory. But I loved the stories surrounding them. And giant robots. Then again, the great stories applies to many groups. The CoT as well, they were particularly interesting to me.
-

Yes! CoT had a lot of variety. And the Ornabega maps were full of cool concepts, like the glowing crystals that would heal you, give you endurance or sap your hitpoints depending on their color. And the portals that would spew demons until you destroyed them. I like to solo those with my Illusion Controllers by hitting them with Deceive until they spit out demons that would destroy the portals themselves.

First time I encountered Malta was after a low-level mission in The Hollows. Not sure what level I was, but they were purple none the less.
I put out a broadcast asking for anyone in The Hollows who could spare a few minutes getting rid of the thugs. And sure enough a couple of people showed up and made quick work of the mobs.

Yeah Carnies on Peregrine Island, and Circle of Thorns, Devouring Earth, Malta, Nemesis, Rikti.
Had a lot of fun at that parking lot with my dark/super reflexes scrapper "DawgZPaw"

The family have been getting it from me lately. Funniest encounter so far was when I rounded a corner to see a plus 2 lost lieutenant but didn't see the boss with him. Perma mez ensued. An intervening hospital visit later and I was avenged.
-
Malta. They kept things interesting even on my god characters.
-
I miss punching Nazis.
Bring me 100 Nazi scalps.
