Title: TonyV site changes
Post by: TonyV on June 22, 2009, 12:56:12 AM
Hey all, in preparation of me canceling my account with DreamHost, and in an effort to consolidate all of my City of Heroes site resources, I have completed the following work today:

- I have transferred almost all DNS management from Namecheap (my name registrar) to Linode (our VPS that runs all of my sites).  This should be completely transparent, I have tried to ensure that all DNS records were transferred and accurate.  It might take up to 24 hours for the DNS records to propagate, but typically, it's much, much shorter.  (They've already propagated to my Comcast DNS servers; if you didn't see an error before and you see the sites correctly now, you're good to go.)  If you can't get to one of my sites after around 17:00 Eastern tomorrow (June 22), please let me know.

- I have physically moved the Paragon Maps (paragonmaps.com) and Taxibots (cohtaxis.com) sites over from my shared hosting account on DreamHost to the Linode VPS.

- I have cleaned house on my sites.  I've pretty much deleted all test and development sites.  I'll eventually recreate them, but for now, I want to focus on making sure everything is up, running, and consolidated.  I also deleted some old, old projects that I worked on that never really came about, some old hero database stuff that, if I ever work on again, will be under the CIT umbrella, not my own project from scratch.

- I have locked all of the old Paragon Forums (paragonforums.com).  All posts pertaining to the Paragon Wiki site should now be posted here/

This effort will result in me saving around $15 a month.  Yeah, not a fortune, but when you don't have to spend it...

Sites now hosted on the VPS include:
The Paragon Wiki (http://paragonwiki.com)
The Taxibots (http://cohtaxis.com)
Paragon Maps (http://paragonmaps.com)
Paragon Forums (http://paragonforums.com/forums) (for archival purposes only; all forums are locked)
The Paragon Forge (http://paragonforge.com) (my development and testing site, probably nothing of interest to the public)

The last site that I'll move over is the Paragon City Free Press (http://pcfreepress.com) site, which though defunct, still holds a special place in my heart.  :)  The reason I haven't moved it yet is because DreamHost has to have some domain set up in order for you to log in to your server, and I don't want to register a dummy domain specifically for that purpose.

If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to reply here or drop me an e-mail at tonyv@cohtitan.com!
