Title: Booster pack standardization
Post by: Cannonfodder on August 08, 2011, 06:45:17 PM
While most of the booster pack pages resemble each other, not all of them follow a consistent template or format.

Would anyone like to formalize an article style for them?

My recommendation would be an article style closest to http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Super_Booster_IV:_Martial_Arts, but could use more visuals and links to emotes and costume change emotes.

http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Super_Booster_II:_Magic does a pretty good job of providing lots of visuals.  Other booster articles make me feel like I have to bounce from page to page to see all of the content.

Thoughts?

What follows is the result of writing and thinking at the same time, so if bits might appear disjointed or unfinished.

So, if we were to use the Martial Arts booster for reference, we would be aiming for a layout similar to this:

Overview
<basic info with release image>

Costume Pieces
Head
<image gallery>

Upper Body
<image gallery>

Lower Body
<image gallery>

Auras
<image gallery>

Back Options
<image gallery>

Weapons
<image gallery>

Powers
Emotes
Regular Emotes
<links to emotes and image gallery of new emotes>

Costume Change Emotes
<links to costume change emotes and image gallery of new emotes>

History
<date pack became available for purchase>

See Also
External Links
That seem about right?  Is there anything missing from that?  Do we want to move/remove anything from that?

For the powers section, I'd see it more set up like this formatting: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Super_Booster_I:_Cyborg#Inherent_Power

What do you think of pulling the tables from the emotes page onto the booster pack pages as seen here?  http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Animal_Pack

The only other thing I could see would be a "special feature" section.  For example, Superscience introduced the super tailor aka cosmetic surgeon.  The other special features introduced with other packs have become part of the regular game, but the booster packs were presented as the gateway into those features they couldn't normally work into production (combat auras, costume change emotes, super tailor, costume pieces with their own glow, path auras).  We could note under historical that this pack was the pack that allowed this, but some features like the super tailor don't quite fit that way.

I don't know if we're going to see more special features with additional boosters or not, but I think it would be a good idea to provide a place for it.

Also, with the plan to release new items to the Paragon store on a weekly basis, we might want to think of ways to structure a template to make it easier to update releases as they come out.

Used that template as a guideline when I did this page:  http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Talk:Origins_Pack

Suggest the following revision/reordering:

<release image, right aligned>
Overview
<basic promotional text>

===Description==
<additional promotional text here>

Costume Pieces
Head
<image gallery>

Upper Body
<image gallery>

Lower Body
<image gallery>

Weapons
<image gallery>

Back Options
<image gallery>

Auras
<image gallery>

Emotes
Regular Emotes
<emotes table and image gallery of new emotes>

Costume Change Emotes
<costume change emote table and image gallery of new emotes>

Powers
<power template>

Special Features
<for example, super tailor, if any>

Promotional Images and/or Concept Art
<gallery>

See Also
    Super Booster
    Costumes
    Unlockable Costume Pieces
<auras, inherent powers, weapon customization, emotes, patch notes and other pages as needed>

History
<new features pioneered, if any>
<date pack became available on the Training Room if know>
<date pack became available for purchase with link to PlayNC store and cost.>
