Title: 4Gb of Ram installed, 3Gb Usable
Post by: WanderingAries on April 17, 2012, 05:22:35 AM
Hey, I know what it means, but what could be causing this? I recently nabbed  two sets of dimms (2x2Gb) for my twin machines, but for some reason my installation only tries to use 3Gb. I haven't tried swapping out my previous dimms to test a mixed config, but wondering what gives considering the GPU's onboard ram is only 256mb (IE: not taking up 1Gb of memory allocation). That said, this is a fully x64 bit machine and I'm running W7 x64 atm.

Sounds like your BIOS may not be remapping the extra memory above the hole it's reserving in the 32-bit address space. I'd poke around in there for any options related to legacy compatibility or memory hole remapping.

I was wondering about the addressing as that's the only thing else that came to mind that made sense. I'm not sure what else I can adjust though, forgot to mention I'm now stuck on my reserve laptop. No CoX for aries until I decide if I wanna risk the GPU.
