Done, and it seems you can vote daily.I didn't have to register.
Yes, you have to register, but it is worth it to get CoH to the top10 at least.
I didn't have to log in, but it gave an option to enter a contest, or something. I clicked no.Yep, to win MMOGold apparently... sounds shady =P

All the more reason not to give them anything more than my IP address.
I voted, but I've never even heard of two of the top three games in the community category. I guess other communities are doing the same thing.Yeah, I have no effing clue what Crossfire is.
In case anyone didn't know, you can get multiple votes in if you use different browsers.
In case anyone didn't know, you can get multiple votes in if you use different browsers.Oh, looks like I have Safari now.
And, no, I'm not going to "game" the system. I have no problem with the redside folks doing it, but it's not for me.
In case anyone didn't know, you can get multiple votes in if you use different browsers. Not sure how you managed that. Safari, Chrome, Explorer and Firefox and I could only vote on one of them. All others gave me the 'only once a day' message.
Seems I can't even vote for more than one CATEGORY per day.
Community says, "Can only vote once per day."
Classic says, "Vote failed."
Make sure you've voted in each category! The votes for most classic are lagging behind best community! Click the individual category pages below to make sure you've voted for both! Best Community: 4th Place http://event.mmosite.com/gameprize/?action=gamelist&id=30 (267 votes out of 3rd place , 1409 to 1676)
Dinged a level. 8)
The other games have a big advantage, because their devs can post the link on their website
Think we could ask the former devs to promote this on their twitter accounts?
Think we could ask the former devs to promote this on their twitter accounts? Some have already been retweeting it for us! :)
Hang on, now. I'll go vote, but before I give out my e-mail, what is MMOSite?
One thing that concerns me content-wise about this site is a pretty nasty unicorn article about CoH's closing that is linked to from the very same page that you vote for CoH from.
I don't know if this was answered. MMOSite appears to be a website dedicated to general MMO news. It has its own community, with forums and a cash shop that sells game time cards (including one for Star Wars Galaxies, but I guess it's good for any SOE game - just weird it says SWG specifically). I'm honestly not really sure what the point of the site is, other than advertising for MMOs, but I guess if you're a general MMO enthusiast it would be a cool place.
It also has advertising deals with various MMOs, including web page background ads and giving away free items (they're currently giving away uniforms for STO). They seem generally focused on advertising MMOs run by Asian companies, but they have stuff for all MMOs as well.
Edit to add: You do NOT need to give MMOSite anything to vote. Just click the big link in the OP and click the "Vote" button there.
Before you think this site is too cool, please read my post a couple up before yours. :)
It basically says we're nuts for wanting to save the game, hammers on CoH and especially it's "obnoxious" player base for everything imaginable, and the only comical part is that this supposed reporter seems to have no real knowledge of any of NCSoft's games, how they're run, or what their history is concerning shutting them all down. She also seems never to have even played CoH to know how many fans it has or what it is really like, let alone how brutishly NCSoft has treated Paragon Studios and CoH's player base
Sounds like someone is butthurt that people had the audacity to criticize a corporation.*shrug*
We shoud get best F2P as well for city of heroes on http://event.mmosite.com/gameprize/?action=gamelist&id=32By accident, I noticed City of Villains is in the list of games, too. From the home page, click on 'C' in the alphabetical list at the bottom and you'll see City of Villains to the right of City of Heroes. Click it and it doesn't go to a voting page, but the page does reload with a search box at the bottom. That search box seems to have the ability to suggest a category for a game. Select City of heroes and then select Best F2P. I did it, but it may take multiple suggestions before it gets added to a category, if it has any effect at all. I couldn't say. Just found that search form by accident. So... :D
anyone figure out how to add that as a option?
Maybe didn't read it right yesterday, but it looks like Knight gained 1000 votes overnight.Yep, that's about the size of it. I know nothing about that game or its community, but really?
NO ONE should beating us in community! Come on guys!
Seems that within a couple weeks, this contest won't be about "best community" and more about "most easily bribed" community.
The Fact that we are number 3 and DONT EVEN HAVE A GAME....means quite a lot to me right now.

You mean screen shots like this?
I'm remaining optimistic. Heroes don't quit. :)
For the Knight Online players, they don't need 1st place to get their reward. 2nd and 3rd will do. So, perhaps they won't have the will to maintain such a strong lead as long as they are confident they are still going to get their carrot.
MicroVolts is offering store points I think. I don't know if MP is their currency. But again, maybe once the players have a decent surplus of points they will lose interest.

I believe we will win the classic title. We just need to keep at it and never let up for a single day.
I don't understand why there's one overarching Vote Now button on the main page our link sends you to, but somehow it is only counting for Best Classic MMO and not Best Community. That must be the case because Best Community has only got about half the votes of Classic MMO. And yet, after pressing the Vote button on the main page, it tells me I have voted in both categories.
Could it be instead that someone out there has twittered or linked directly to the Classic MMO vote without realizing the community one is even there?
Bots. They've gotta be botting the votes on that one.
...right now CoH is25th4thnot 1st in each category, so get out the votes!
Honestly, normally I hate this kind of manipulation of votes, but whatever, I want to get CoH seen. Not our fault they can't have a more secure voting page. (This would be the logic most of my villains used in-game.)
I have no freaking idea what Microbots bribed their players with to get 4k votes overnight...
I just noticed... Knight Online seems to have vanished from the Best community rankings. Maybe they got disqualified for bribery?
Its still beyond me how Micro Volts is even in the community category... when it comes to online shooters "best community" is the exact opposite of what comes to mind.
I really get the impression that it's a select group of Asian MMO companies that even care about this site and it's reader's choice awards. If CoH were still running, I doubt any of us would care either. It's good publicity, to be sure, but I'm not really sure who the target readership / community is.Good points and I'll be first to admit I'd probably be one of those ignoring the results. But I am really glad to see Knight Online off the list for Best Community and it would not surprise me to see the same happen to MicroVolts.

Is NCsoft in that select group? Or any of its major competitors?
If we can show other Asian MMO companies that NCsoft cancelled a popular game, won't NCsoft lose face (even more than they already have)?
The hazard here would be that we end up disqualifying ourselves with this thread and its discussion of how to "game" the vote. While it's clearly not as egregious as the Knights Online and MicroVolts votes, we could still be seen as cheating.
Their FAQ says each IP (address) can vote three times. Nothing about people or accounts on the site being limited, just IP. I'm still trying to get my other two votes per day, though.
If Knight got disqualified over bribes, how the heck is MicroVolts still up there?
So it seems that the "3 votes per IP address" thing is three per category for three different games, not three any way you want it. Which was ambiguously worded.
We don't really know why Knight Online disappeared.
Must have been some sort of error. Knight Online's votes have been restored (unless they got 40,000 votes last night).
Just remember... we have staying power.
I've been voting every day, as have many of us all.
Slow and steady wins the race...
Maybe the others will fall off...
Maybe their bots will falter...
There is clearly no question who has the best community.
Name one other community that would be ranking so high after the game was shutdown.
I'm totally bemused how we're losing best Community. Someone is doing something fishy.
Call out to all the villains ... get to it!
We have no idea if the other game's voters/bots will continue through to the end. We know that we can though.
It means standing up for each other and anyone who has ever lost a game they loved. Sure, it's hits for them, but for us, it's a show of solidarity. Our game is gone, but we're still here. We still matter... and we want our home back.
I hope the reality of these things is noticed by others, regardless of whether it affects the outcome.
Edit: It looks like if you open the category pages first, and then the main page, you can get multiple votes in, but not the other way around.
I can confirm this works.... just got double votes :)
I was puzzled, too....37303 votes for a gaming community I have never heard of??? Something is fishy (https://i.imgur.com/4CcGo.gif)
If you check upstream you will find that the two games are paying their subscribers in in-game goodies for every vote. This is why I'm shocked that they aren't ahead of us in all categories. Ah well, I will take the boons where I can get them.
I wonder if thus "rewards" for voting aren't sort of...well....cheating?
Due the fact that other games are shut down there is no way to keep the balance in thus votes O.o.
It's a pretty odd behaviour from both games against the other, fair, competitions :/
Personally, I very much feel like it's cheating to use ingame rewards to drum up votes for "best community". That's what's so great about all this... maybe we're only in third place, but we now know for a fact that no other game community can honestly compare to ours.;D You have that right!
It takes cheating to beat what we've got. 8)
wtf are some of these game? Microvolts and knight online seem to be ahead of us for best community. I haven't even heard of them.Earlier posts confirm that these games and others are bribing their game communities with in-game rewards for voting. Don't give it a second thought and be proud that we are in third place out of pure loyalty to the game and community.
Don't give it a second thought
I'm having a problem voting...every once in a while I sneak a vote in, but for days on end it says I already voted today and should come back tomorrow. Any ideas? I close and reopen the window, and still no luck. :(

So, if I don't vote until 11:00 pm one day, I can't vote before 11:00 pm the next day.

Two complete unknown MMOs far in front of the old giants and biggest communities?! Cannot be true at all.
Bear in mind as well that this mmosite is an international forum, so the games some of us have never heard of might be from other countries. I also don't think that most 'giants' care about a random site's rigged poll. But it's going to be pretty nice to have CoH in the top three of its categories.
It was already mentioned on their forums that's somethings fishy. But still no real reaction of any staff as you can read here (http://forum.mmosite.com/thread/2/2/20121225/50da6e8949eab0b13-1.html#p50da6e8949eab0)
That post didn't really draw any attention to what is going on. Where are the links to the pages that are offering the bribes?
The only response to the thread was about it being a "popularity contest." Bribes do not = popularity.
WARNING!!! Best community is going to be challenged; Brawl Busters has come from somewhere into fourth because they're offering daily bribes

Because something more reputable would stand a better chance of the general gaming populous actually giving a ****? With the system as it is now, they stand a better chance at establishing themselves as a laughing stock.Who take polls at game web sites seriously? Or new websites? Or radio websites? Or online petitions?
And... scientific poll? Is that even possible in the "Do a barrel roll" era?
Seems like someone updated the code...
I got a pop-up ad in a new browser window when I voted. That never happened before today.
I've been getting that ad (for some MMO) for the last several days.
You can look at it as third, or you can look at it as first in our "class." :)
What was that third voting page for exactly? The one that didn't specify a category.I believe it voted for City of Heroes in both categories (I'd assume ALL categories it was nominated for). That's what it did for me, as I'd double check by refreshing afterward.

Very true but I find it ironic that the only game they published that made a top 3 showing was the game they axed.

Very true but I find it ironic that the only game they published that made a top 3 showing was the game they axed.Well it was the only game whose community cared enough to vote and vote often was the game they axed. Would we have bothered if we weren't trying to make a statement?

Oh, I see.MMOsite has cut the cheat vote already. We could do nothing to some players if they just vote agame for reward, as we couldn't konw which one is vote for favor and which one is vote for reward. What's more, the game offical afford the reward, not MMOsite and we do not have the right to prevent game offical do something for their own game.
Doubtful; that looks fairly typical of a lot of internet posting style I've seen that is very English-as-first-language. It's just rather stream-of-consciousness (which is a so-called "writing style" that I wish Faulkner were MALIGNED in school for "inventing," rather than for which he is lauded by English teachers who would throw a hissy fit at the dreadful grammar and utter illegibility of it if a student turned in such tripe). All these years I thought I was the only person in the country who loathed Faulkner's style.
