Title: Word Censoring, or "What's a unicorn?"
Post by: Sekoia on December 08, 2012, 06:06:15 PM
One of the features enabled on our forums is word censoring: certain words are automatically replaced by other words.

The most common word that gets replaced is troll. If you try using that word in a post, it'll automatically turn into the word unicorn.

Why do we do this? Because we think it's unhelpful for people to call each other trolls. This usually happens when a conversation is starting to heat up. This is our way of preventing such words from being used. Hopefully it also throws some levity into those situations to help cool things down a bit.

We also censor certain profanities, changing them into pancake. (No, I'm not listing off which ones.)

Please don't try to circumvent the word censoring. It's there for a reason, smile and try to live with it. :)

EDIT: I should add, these are our current word censors. We may add or change them over time, and likely without further warning or announcement. Gotta keep everyone on their toes. ;)
