Title: Titan Icon installer for Windows: Tequila!
Post by: Leandro on January 12, 2014, 03:08:14 PM
Since Manga posted Island Rum (http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php/topic,9502.0.html), we can't just let Windows users have to manually download files and configure Icon. So here's a new tool that will download all the Issue 24 files, the latest version of Titan Icon, and will automatically update them if needed:

Download: http://patch.savecoh.com/tequila.exe
Source code: https://github.com/leandrotlz/Tequila

Note that this wasn't exactly tested a lot, so please post any bugs you run into. Improvements to the source code are greatly appreciated, if you can follow what it's doing! It shares the same manifest.xml file as Island Rum; in fact, they both pull data from the same place. Tequila just ignores the Mac-specific files.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET A MANIFEST ERROR

The huge number of downloads for the Paragon Chat launch have killed the server that contained the manifest file. You will need to manually point Tequila to the new Manifest location if you are getting this error.

- Click Options.
- In the empty line under "Manifests", enter http://patch.savecoh.com/manifest.xml
***** IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN EMPTY LINE UNDER MANIFESTS, your Tequila is out of date. Download a fresh copy from the above link! *****
- Click Add; the new manifest should appear at the bottom. Make sure it's selected by clicking on it.
- Click OK.
- Close Tequila and start it again.

That will point your Tequila install to the latest version.

USAGE

1) Download Tequila in a folder that you have write permissions to. Unless you have disabled UAC (and if you don't know what that means, you haven't) put it on a folder under My Documents or Application Data. It will save you many headaches. Don't use a folder under Program Files unless you know exactly what you're doing.

2) Optional: if this folder already has a COH installation, Tequila will only download the files that need updating, and not the whole game. So, if you have an Issue 24 install, move all the files into the same folder as Tequila (cityofheroes.exe should be in the same folder as Tequila). An Issue 23 install will need updating, but some of the files might still be good, so it doesn't hurt to try.

3) Run Tequila. If you get an error about .NET distributables, download the .NET 3.5 runtime from Microsoft's website (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21) and then launch Tequila again.

4) No errors? You should be at a folder selection window. That's where Tequila will download the game files and Icon; by default, it will be whatever you download it to. You can change it here if you want, just make sure the folder you pick is not covered by UAC (and again, if you don't know what that means, any empty folder under My Documents will do).

5) Tequila will download the same file manifest as Island Rum and will start downloading files. You can close it anytime if you want to continue later; you will be downloading several gigabytes, unless you copied an old Issue 24 install.

6) Once Tequila is done, you'll be seeing a screen much like this one:

7) Hit the big "Play" button to launch Icon; the "Screenshots" button will open the Screenshots folder; the Options folder will let you add command line options or re-validate that the downloaded files are good.

8) Tequila will make a shortcut icon in your desktop. Double clicking it will launch Tequila, which will look for updates. If you don't care about keeping Icon updated with Tequila, you can remove that shortcut and just launch icon.exe directly.

Thanks for making this Leandro.  Makes running & updating Icon much easier.

Also, a great big thanks to all you coders out there (and you know who you are ;)) for trying to give us our home back.  That means a great deal to me and (I'm sure) to other fellow CoX'ers waiting on the sidelines for our game to live again.

Hm... I'm getting some filesize and checksum violations.  Icon seems to run, and there's music (despite some of the problems being reported in the sound files).  Is this something that I should be worrying about, correcting somehow?

Code: [Select]
Download error: piggs/soundV2.pigg
Size mismatch (16777391 vs 30690946)
Checksum Mismatch (ea99201a92026e0637099bf84530e5ce vs 22a51e16f130755c9f3a39f946d145ae)Download error: piggs/stage3b.pigg
Size mismatch (29360303 vs 94288451)
Checksum Mismatch (79153418dccf9487f2d1f70b52a3d694 vs ed859c6e6d30c271ce6ecb0b6f9e0bd0)

Revalidating the files twice fixed it... I guess download errors.

Yes, turns out the source I compiled that Tequila from is a version that doesn't retry a different URL if the download fails (oops); I'll update the Github repository and the binary later today. Tequila updates itself, so you should just notice that the version in its title bar goes from 1.0.0.10 to 1.0.0.13 at some point, no need to get a fresh copy.

This and Island Rum are incredibly useful and helpful. There are scores of people on facebook who cringe at doing anything remotely technical on the PC or Mac. These installers make it possible for so many more to enjoy Codewalker's work as well as the Popup menu team.

When ever I get a question on FB about Icon and how to install it, a link to this and Island Rum thread is going to be my standard reply.

PS. If server traffic gets to be a problem, we should talk to TonyV. I send him 20 a month for Server cost but I would be willing to go to $25 to help host ICON as well.

Post by: Leandro on January 16, 2014, 07:54:37 PM
Neither Island Rum nor Tequila use files hosted at the Titan Network. Rather, the files are mirrored in twenty something Dropbox accounts and a couple of other hosts. Each Dropbox has a limit of 20GB traffic per day, so unless there's 100 people downloading it the same day, it should not have any problems.

Wait, so does this thing also download the game if you don't have it?? Because I'm going to be updating my OS soon, and if I don't have to move all those files to and from my external hard drive, that might make my life easier.

Also... Island Rum, Tequila? Looks like we've got some Pinnacle players here. The only server that faceplants before a fight!

I cannot do any of my missions. how about a laucnher for COH to work  with not the stupid ncosft servers that is dead
NCASOFT was not able to get the publishing rights sold. the only thing is go around that is to remove the server entry

There is a LOT more to getting CoH to run on a person's computer than just "removing the server entry".

No, that is not the only thing.
The ENTIRE PROBLEM is that the actual gameplay logic is NOT part of the client.
Let's take this analogy: You know a demo file is a list of events that the client reads in and follows exactly during playback, right?
Well, here's the thing: That's pretty close to how the game worked with the actual server. The client sent your input to the server played back the response it got. There was some code to handle movement if the server response was delayed, but that's pretty much it. Missions, combat, enemy AI and so on DO NOT EXIST IN THE CLIENT ITSELF.
Your client did not tell the server "I hit the Clockwork with my Apocalyptic Mega Smasher, destroying it.".
Your client told the server "I shoot Apocalyptic Mega Smasher on the Clockwork" and the server responded "You are in range. Your to-hit is 90%. You hit the Clockwork. You damage the Clockwork for 40 HP. You destroy the clockwork. You gain XP. You gain INF."

That's a helpful illustration of the client/server relationship.

It's shows, in practical terms, to non-programmers and Coh fans in general how the game works.

I liked that example.

Are there any plans for Icon 8.0?  Just curious.

A quick question for you Brainiacs out there:  I have 7.1 and Tequila installed & running fine.  My question is: There are times when I go to a map and wind up inside a building. :-X  How does one get out of said building?  For example: I think Kings Row was one of the maps where I wound up in a building (Wentworth's I think).

Thanks in advance for your help!

You can either /noclip (F5) and fly out, or you can hit F12 and it'll send you to a random spawn point. Just keep pressing it until you get somewhere close to where you want.

It can't do those things. Icon is just for looking around the zones, playing with costumes, manually creating scenes with the various commands available. It's not and has never been for 'playing the game' or anything remotely like that.

Icon only lets one user on at a time. You can't play or fight with others. The only other characters in the zone are the NPCs that are either fixed, or the ones you spawn.
Title: Re: Titan Icon installer for Windows: Tequila!
Post by: Felderburg on June 28, 2014, 01:10:58 AM
I would suggest checking out the "pop menus" (so named because they're menus that pop up): http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Titan_Icon#Available_PopMenus (also take a look at the posts stickied at the top of the Icon forums here for more detail on installation). Those menus allow you to change maps with ease, and add NPCs.

Also, it's possible people are using Icon in conjunction with Demo Editing (http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php/board,167.0.html http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Demo_Editing) to create videos. Demo editing can allow an artist extreme control over what happens in a zone, and also control over the camera as it moves through the zone.

That option may be preferable for hosting purposes, however it's certainly not preferable for anyone on a college internet, which basically block all torrent traffic (including WoW patches, as my roommate 2 years ago found out).

A manifest is the list of files that Tequila downloads to install the game. The multiple manifests feature lets you enter a different address for the manifest, which may contain other files. Bunch of modified pigg files, for example, or a program besides Titan Icon.

I don't know why the -n parameter doesn't get passed to Icon from Tequila, it really should be working. I removed the option because it doesn't work, you'll have to use a shortcut to Icon, unfortunately..

No, that's just for people who don't trust binary downloads and want to compile it themselves, or for people who think the software is crap and want to improve it.

I have a question. What about all the costume pieces unlocked via badges, like the Rularuu weapons? Is there a way to access these?

That would be a question for CW under the Icon thread. This thread is only for the downloader.

In general, getting stuck in a download is because some malware is interfering with your internet connection in order to inject ads into things, or because some antivirus is interfering with your internet connection in a misguided attempt to scan EVERYTHING you download to make itself seem useful. I'd start by pausing your antivirus/anti malware, and if that doesn't help, check your Windows proxy settings to make sure nothing is hijacking them.

Hmmm... Just used Tequila for the first time... worked like a champ. Either your download is corrupt (I think relaunching Tequila verifies files?) or more likely your computer doesn't want to play the game.

If your up to it I can launch in minimal graphics mode and export a registry file for you to try...  anyone else, isn't there a safe mode for Coh? I forget....

Having an issue I don't know what to do.  I installed Tequila in "my documents", downloaded all files then try to run

I get this

and... it just sits there.  I'm running windows 7. I've made sure my firewall and virus software are not blocking it... any ideas?

In general, getting stuck in a download is because some malware is interfering with your internet connection in order to inject ads into things, or because some antivirus is interfering with your internet connection in a misguided attempt to scan EVERYTHING you download to make itself seem useful. I'd start by pausing your antivirus/anti malware, and if that doesn't help, check your Windows proxy settings to make sure nothing is hijacking them.

Once I download Tequila, can I then delete my previous Icon file that I saved about a year ago?

Deleting the Icon file will cause Tequila to download it again, so I'm not sure why you want to do that... it's the same file.

Ok. I didn't know it was the same. The existing one I had was i23. In the version that I already have I had tweaked Atlas Park so that it was always snowy and the trees had the Christmas lights. Does anyone know if that will cause any problems?

UPDATE: It loaded just fine. Now I am going to celebrate with some real Tequila.

Important: the Dropbox account that held the Tequila manifest was shut down because of bandwidth exceeded (too many people downloading the client). You will need to either manually set the manifest to http://patch.savecoh.com/manifest.xml in the Tequila options, or wait for a new download in a few minutes that will default to that URL.

Title: Re: Titan Icon installer for Windows: Tequila!
Post by: Leandro on July 07, 2015, 10:36:37 PM
If you get connection refused for http://patch.savecoh.com/tequila.exe then it's most likely your antivirus blocking it because it's too new. Antiviruses have taken to blocking downloads for files that are "too new" and "too few people" are using, mainly Norton and Avast. It's a very stupid thing and I refuse to support antivirus companies that are so stupid to do that.

Pause your antivirus, retry the download, see if that fixes the problem.

My Tequila Activity Log reads that it's successfully downloaded the manifest file from http://patch.savecoh.com/manifest.xml and it says that it's finished patching, but Paragon Chat does not show up in the launch window.  Would the Log read that it was successfully patched if it wasn't?

Actually never mind.  I found that we're not supposed to even try to do this until 1 AM UTC, which I assume is when it's after 1am on the top of the screen here at Titan Network.  And since this is a Paragon Chat thing, the pertinent information is probably listed under Paragon Chat.

So I deleted the files in the CoH folder (which was created the first time I downloaded Tequila), and now I tried downloading a fresh Tequila copy and it wont re-install the files because it is outdated. Guess I do not get to be a part of the Paragon Chat launch.

I would go into your recycle bin, and restore the CoH files. That way you don't have to redownload them.

Tequila you may have to redownload because your version of Tequila in the screenshot is an old one (1.0.0.10 vs the 1.0.0.16 that I have).

They are gone. I need to reinstall Tequila and the files from scratch. It's not letting me though. It just launches Tequila and no CoH files are downloaded/extracted whatever.

If the file is in that path, delete it and see if that helps, something might be locking access to it.

Yeah, I seemed to have broken Tequila on my comp. And even if I delete it and clean all the files associated with it whenever I download it now it gives me that error.

I scrapped the first time I used it because I wanted it to go into a different folder, then all hell broke loose and now its always giving me that error.

(Update: Yeah, I have tried downloading it fresh after deleting all remnants of the program and it just keeps giving me that error. Nothing left on the registry or anything, but when it starts up new its acting like it's trying continue where I left off before I deleted it the first time.)

No change to the situation upon deletion of the activity log.

Just like TheClockmaker said, the program will open after that error, but it just stays in the "starting" mode and most of the time I have to pull up the task manager to get it to shut down.

I am still able to log into Paragon Chat using the dedicated shortcut in my Tequila folder, that's the good news. (If you've been unable to get in at all that may be worth a try.)

I don't even have a tequila folder anymore. I do have paragon chat in my beta folder. I can't log in because it says I don't have the right game version, even though I'm positive I do. I was just using tequila to dl any game client files. And I did the stupid thing and stopped tequila, deleted it off the comp and now whenever I download a new version it treats it like its trying to continue the download even though I've removed everything. I.E. it won't let me start fresh with tequila.

I've removed it from everywhere on my comp including the registry and it still won't give me a fresh version. I just keep getting that same error.

Update: For some reason it finally stopped with the error and allowed me to re download updates to my beta folder. Fingers crossed.

I've been having the same problem too. I've tried fresh reinstalls of Tequila and a fresh, unaltered copy of the CoH client I've kept on my portable HD. I get a .NET framework error message box too, even with a new, fresh 3.5 update too.

Kind of hoping I didn't break my computer or anything.

Edit: Getting this image whenever I first boot up a fresh copy of Tequila.

And the next little image I get is:
http://gyazo.com/3176a6d6a5a131bcca006f3f73dca746
Where it doesn't seem to work at all.

Whenever I try to exit out of the program, I get this box. Whether I hit continue or quit, nothing happens, and the application goes non-responsive: http://gyazo.com/be3a0ab20ae737e78f923d3a922daef1

Can somebody please explain what the issue is here? I'm getting frustrated. All I wanted to do was upgrade my client.

Sure thing Ninten19,

To the best of my knowledge:

I first tried deleting everything dealing with Tequila, then deleted all remnants from the registry.
I then downloaded it again, but it kept doing that error and trying to put it in the old folder that was now missing.
I tried this several times with no luck and being stubborn I did it several more times.

I then took a break. Searched my comp for anything Tequila related, deleted, emptied recycle, and registry deletion. I double and triple checked searches on my comp and made sure there was nothing Tequila related.

The only thing I can tell to the best of my knowledge that I did "differently" than the other attempts was when I went to the link for the Tequila download instead of 'saving it then running it' I went straight to Run at the download menu. It then pulled up the screen asking what folder you wanted to download it to (something I hadn't been able to do since the first time I tried), I selected my CoHbeta folder and boom all went well.

Not sure if that helps, but I hope it does.
I'll try to rack my brain for anything else I can think of but the only really different I can remember is running it instead of saving then running.

Is this the only thread for Tequila right now? I think it is. There ought to be a separate one for info and one for tech support. Anyways, I'd like to suggest that for multi-monitor users, Tequila always opens in the monitor it was closed in. When I open it, the window appears in whichever monitor my mouse is in when it opens, rather than my main monitor every time as I desire.

Writing to the root of C:\ is not generally allowed by Windows User Account Control. Are you launching Tequila from a folder inside My Documents or another write-able path?

also guess i should move all the coh files to my laptop c drive ( just had beta so far ) from my external drive

It sounds like you pointed Tequila to a bad folder and now it's stuck starting by trying to save there. Check back later for instructions on how to wipe the current installation directory.

Registry had an entry variable pointing to an older install path and tequila was just referring back to it over and over and not finding the expected files.  Repointing it to where I placed Tequila seems to have eliminated my error message and now things are working again.

Could you explain how to do this in more detail? Like I'm 12 years old would be great.  :-\

EDIT:: Ok changed the Registry and now Tequila opens great, but now I'm stuck on "Fetching Manifest" I am using http://patch.savecoh.com/manifest.xml. Is that no longer correct?

EDIT 2:: And we're back in business. Thanks to all those who helped point the way.

Sorry if this has been covered before.  I tried a quick search and didn't find it, so here goes.

When I fire up Tequila, I get this error.

Manifest download error for http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/37952257/Tequila/titanicon.xml
The remote server returned an error: (429) Bandwidth Error.

What should I do?

Thanks!

From the first post:

What was the solution to this?
Title: Re: Titan Icon installer for Windows: Tequila!
Post by: Gorgor on July 26, 2015, 05:44:55 PM
I am downloading via Tequila.exe (I had the final shutdown of CoH carefully saved off, but get the "Paragon Chat was unable to start! You must start Paragon Chat from a folder containing a complete installation of City of Heroes" error, so presumably there is a difference between final shutdown and I24 Beta.)

Anyway, about 1/3 the way through the big DL, I click the options button on Tequila, and it shows options screen.  I go to click cancel, but there is no cancel, so I click Ok.  It tries to write the options file, fails, and then Tequila crashes.

I restart Tequila. Is it bright enough to detect an incomplete file download and resume that file (perhaps completely restarting it) or does it just go on to the next? in which case I would have to delete everything except Tequila.exe and start over.

Tequila is built into an Explorer frame, so it will open Explorer windows. I *think* Starsman could make it open in your default browser.

Might be able to help some people with this... I was having the same issue where it wouldn't locate my .txt file after I tried moving programs around from one hard drive to another. I recently updated to Windows 10 after the whole ordeal and it still wouldn't run.

Today I tried one more time and went into the tequila.exe properties menu while it was still in my 'Downloads' folder and ran the compatibility check. After it did the check it asked if I wanted to 'Test this program?' so I clicked on that and it generated a new .txt file. So far after that it's golden, moved it to it's proper folder and started downloading everything.

Hope this helps someone. I tried the IslandRum for windows when the tequila stopped working for me and it kept freezing up at a certain part of the download.

I pushed an update that attempts to fix the TequilaActivityLog problem, download http://patch.savecoh.com/tequila.exe again and see if that helps. It should say version 1.0.0.18

Anyone with C# knowledge that wants to improve Tequila can do so by forking at https://github.com/leandrotlz/Tequila and sending patches back.

The patcher for Tequila is slow.  It's not like a patcher from a MMO game where there may be several servers that can load-balance to deliver client uploads to users , a content delivery network that does the same thing (along with social media and IaaS websites under the same payload), or even an alternate install location.  It's a program that sends a single feed of the Issue 24 client to you.

Upside?  Once the download finishes, save all the files to a flash drive or portable hard disk and you'll never have to download Issue 24 again (or repeat the download if you have multiple systems.)  Just copy it back if you need to start over on your hard drive or to install on a second machine.

I knew there was a reason I bought the Office 365 5-user!   ;D  1TB of online storage with each account, besides Office 2016, plus a 3-user of Trend Micro Internet Security and a free Microsoft wireless mouse, all for 79 bucks.  Can't beat that with a stick.

Oh, by the way, I'm reinstalling because I bought a new computer, and Win 10 being on a solid state drive, I pointed Tequila to D:.  I keep getting these "can't access pigg file because it's already being used" errors.  The install doesn't appear to stop completely; once I click OK, it goes on past the message, but it keeps coming back for certain sound files, etc.  Did I do something wrong?

You're using Paragon Chat from a shared volume? (Assuming D: is OneDrive)  Not sure this is supported... the client isn't designed to handle file locking from multi-user environments (not talking about Paragon Chat, but the COH client itself.)

If I'm wrong, please correct me.

Oh, sorry, I don't know what the client can support.  However, the whole thing is installed on D: in Users/My Documents, and I logged on and was able to fly to different zones and use the T and stuff.  No one else was on so I logged off, but it seems to work fine.

My OS is on C: which is an SSD, so I install mostly everything else on D (SATA 7200 RPM) so as not to beat on the SSD overly much.  What shouldn't I be able to do from D:?  If you give me some ideas, I can check if those things work or not.

The whole .pigg file thing seems not to have affected anything so far.  They were music files at one point it was giving me install errors on, but when I fly over Atlas, that beloved theme still plays; so far, so good.

I was looking, but can't seem to find the answer, but I was wondering why I need to keep re-downloading this every time I want to log on? Everything runs great when I'm running around the city, but I need to download every time. What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this? Please bear in mind, I am a computer retard so don't make it too technical.

I'm not sure what could cause that, but the easiest fix for Tequila issues is to just... not run Tequila.

Paragon Chat updates itself, and there aren't going to be any more updates to Icon, so once you have the I24 files that it needs, you can run PChat/Icon directly. No need to launch Tequila again.

patch.savecoh.com seems to be online but giving 404 errors. Just FYI. I know you don't strictly need Tequila to run Icon or Paragon Chat but it's a handy front-end for them.

And just tried to save it using Explorer and the security alert says contains HEUR/AUC (Cloud) and was blocked and sent to quarantine.  Chrome also won't download it for my computer.  Have no idea if that is actually malware or not.  Any experts?  If it is safe, how do I get it to download so I can run tequila.exe?  Not a tech guy here.

As long as you're using the links in this thread, you should be getting the official download, which is safe.

Anti-Virus programs get a little overaggressive sometimes and have to be specifically told that tequila.exe is safe.

Chrome not allowing you to download the file may be related to your AV program having a Chrome plugin that's installed to scan downloads for threats.  The same AV that's quarantining the file after download is likely trying to prevent you from downloading it in the first place.

Hello all,

I have the launcher window showing play. I start I get the lovely Loading.... banner. Then a window I had never seen pops up, with the message "Resurgence has stopped working" and tells me it will close the prog, and Microsoft will notify me when there is a fix. But I don't think I can hold my breath that long, any ideas.

We can't help with anything beyond the basics of downloading a copy of and running Tequila.  Once Tequila can be run, if it's Paragon Chat you're having issues with, there's a separate Tech Support (https://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php?board=202.0) section of the forums for that.  If it's the new SCoRE server you're having issues with, we can't provide any help with that. From here I do not have the "Play" option (for any of the three: Score, Paragon Chat, Icon). Closing and re-opening Tequila gets the same message. The manifest line seems to point to the correct address.

Some versions of Tequila apparently create a blank key "params" in your system registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Tequila/Settings - and it seems they use that value preferentially over ones in tequila.xml .
If whatever you run though Tequila ;) is not working correctly, Start -> Run -> Regedit -> HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Tequila and remove whatever's inside there.

I haven't tried u/FifthHorseman's method of deleting the key yet, but I wanted to post anyway to see if it is an unrelated error:

Tequila seems to operate fine itself, but PChat will not load, and both Icon and SCORE (beyond your purview, I know), have a flicker on the initial title screens that make them unnavigable.  When I switch to windowed, the game quits responding (both versions).

This flicker occurs regardless of launching via Tequila or through the Icon exe itself.

Which makes sense as all three: Tequila entries for Score, Icon, and Paragon Chat (as well as the standalone launchers for Icon and Paragon Chat) are all invoking the client launcher.  The method may be different, but all three start the same process graphically.  As a last resort, see if -usetexenvcombine works as a Launch Parameter in the Options box of Tequila before launching Paragon Chat.

As Korbian said in another thread, I wouldn't rule out hardware damage or power issues yet as a root cause.  If you have a second video card (or the means of acquiring another one on the cheap that works well with City of Heroes (https://www.amazon.com/Asus-R5230-SL-1GD3-L-ASUS-Graphics-Cards/dp/B00KBCNXZQ)), now would be a good time to try it.

Hey, all.

I'm getting this error when I launch Tequila v1.0.0.20:

Manifest download error for http://patch.savecoh.com/manifest.xml
An exception occurred during a WebClient request.

It doesn't seem to matter what manifest I point it at online, or even saved to the local hard drive.

I've nuked everything in my registry with the word "tequila" in it and, as a result, reinstalled from scratch, with the same results.

Note that this is NOT a SCoRE issue - I can't even get Tequila to load up Paragon Chat or Icon.

Any suggestions?

Try going into the folder and deleting tequila.xml, TequilaActivityLog.txt, and tequilalog.xml, then run tequila.exe again.

Try going into the folder and deleting tequila.xml, TequilaActivityLog.txt, and tequilalog.xml, then run tequila.exe again.

Hmm... I initially said to myself, "Self, I've done those things already" but what I'd done was rename Tequilalog.xml in case I wanted it back. Deleting either of the xml files gives an "access denied, some process has this file open" error. That, despite Task Manager assuring me that there aren't any tequila processes currently running.

I'll have to try the four-finger-salute. Thanks for the tip.

There's been the rare occasion where I've had that message pop up despite not having any program open... as I recall, the computer somehow thought the file manager system (i.e. folder viewing in windows Explorer) was "using" the file, and a restart fixed the issue.

...what does 4-finger-salute mean in this context?

Eh, I should have said "Three Finger Salute." Ctl-Alt-Del. Reboot. I was being glib and didn't think about it hard enough to realize I'd added a finger, heh.

And that DID fix the problem.

Hi all.
I've been trying to sort this out for a couple of hours, but tequila won't launch today.
I've been using it without problems up until today.
The window opens but it says "tequila 1.0.0.20 (not responding)" at the top of the window.
I downloaded it again but it does the same thing.
Any one having the same problem?
Any ideas how to fix it?

Like many things in CoH, localization was part of the mapserver, so barring a major rewrite, it's not possible on any currently existing server. I understand that there is a group called Vigilance who are planning to relocalize the game in French, though.

Ok Guys,

A couple (stupid?) questions here -- hopefully, someone can shed a little insight (I'm fresh out of yellow chiclets ;D) at the moment.

First:  On my Win 10 box, Tequila runs like a champ, and I've been playing *very* happily (and nearly non-stop) since last Friday evening.
On the Tequila screen I understand the various choices (HC, HC-64, Beta-HC, Pchat etc.), but I don't know what the Safe Modes are, and how they differ from the regular modes. Any help on that?

Second: On my other PC's (Win XP boxes -- yes, I *know* -- upgrade them out of the stone age, yada, yada...  ;)  Eventually, they'll get replaced - just not yet), Tequila runs just fine, all the files are downloaded / verified successfully.  When I try to run HC, it pukes -- msg:  "We were unable to locate the game data files. it is likely that your installation is corrupt and needs to be repaired".

That happens on both XP boxes, and yet, the game runs perfectly fine when I choose HC - Safe Mode, again on both boxes.  I've tried deleting the whole shebang and re-installing again, but the results are the same.

SO -- I'm trying to figure out what the underlying problem is, and / or, how I can "repair my installation", or whether running  HC - Safe Mode is an acceptable approach for those machines.

Once again, any insight you guys have on this would be much appreciated.  In the meanwhile, I think there are some Skuls that need a head-bashing, so I'm off to Paragon City!

Cheers,
4

@FourSpeed

These questions would best be answered on the HC forums (haven't checked there yet today) as the Titan site is for Titan creations (Icon, etc). Simple answers? Safe modes are for those who can't seem to run the other versions without issues, troubleshooting, etc. As for XP, even if you've got XP 64bit, I'm not sure if you'll be able to run the HC-64 app. I don't think Icon has changed, but you'll find that the costume pieces have diverged enough that even a saved file will now load with errors in HC (due to new content and backend stuff).

Last I heard Tequila was essentially unsupported by just about everyone and someone avoided for security for that reason.
