Arch/mm Blaster
« on: September 21, 2014, 06:56:47 PM »
All the talk of builds in the CoH Hail Mary got me to reinstall and start recreating some of my character builds.  Once the shut down was announced I didn't really play the game much, so It's been about 2 years since I've made any builds.

The goal of my arch/mm was:

Hit perma hasten
6 Slot RoA and Psy Shockwave
Get Contagious Confusion in WoC to supplement the lack of soft cap
Have KB protection
Money isn't a problem (no game xD)

My first attempt. I just slotted what I knew I wanted and went from there:

So I found something I liked better. Some disparities to point out:

~ 5% increased def in S/L (36%)
~ 3% increase in S/L resistance (14.9%)
~ 2% less max health, however the new build includes hoarfrost so its an increase of ~22% while hoarfrost is up (2/3 of the time)
.5 added to dmg (27)
+1 to KB protection ( 8 )
Overall increases in status resistances

.03 less end recovery :(
1.25 less haste :(
No psy scream (cone psi dmg)

Ok, so I've been playing around over the past day or so with different things I can do within the build and I've found something I like.

I do have a question though, should I be focusing accurecy as much as I Have, I could drop some and hover around 80-90 and boost dmg/rech? Will the acc slotted within the powers themselfs make up for the drop from IO's?

As a side note, I always liked Hibernate as a OH **** situation were rng hates me or if I ever did TF's. I could replace hib with psy scream to get another aoe psi attack in, could be worth it? It would require playing around with IOs for a few more hours.

Ahh... I just looked at your build. I don't consider it something that can be done the first few months or so when CoH comes back.... That's why all the builds I do do not use purples, pvp, or superior AT IOs.

Your build seems a lil light on defense and focusing a tad too much on recharge...and accuracy bonuses imo.

So my "challenge" to you... redo this without purple, pvp, or superior AT IOs... see what you can come up with so that you can optimize your build shortly after launch :)

Just for some context, I would normally farm with my arch/mm and with the S/L defense I would run something like BM. So the build gives almost soft capped S/L defense with perma hasten. You need 110% to rech perma hasten with 3 slotted rech. This only gives me a luxury of 8% rech in the build.

I really have no clue how much acc I should be aiming for though, its been so long since I've played. No pun intended. I'm not sure what a decent amount of acc would be or if I need the Kismet +6 to Hit.

I relied heavily on the purples in World of Confusion as a sort of round about soft defense increase; without contagious confusion ill have to slot more in defense as a blaster, while also giving up all the juicy rech from purples too. Its really hard making a solid blaster farming build, while other ATs can be more efficient with less xD.

I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be farming in the beginning to help themselves as well as supply the City with purples etc. My farmers (Non AE) are a dom (Earth/Psi/Psi) and a troller (Earth/Kin/Earth)... they may seem unlikely combos but they get the job done quite well :) I adapted their builds so they don't use purple, pvp, or superior AT IOs... because in the beginning those are going to be very hard to come by.

I respect where you're coming from. But - I'm uncertain on something. If, what this Hail Mary team gets from NCSoft is a copy of Issue 23, wouldn't that copy be a copy of the game as it was when they copied it? Meaning, wouldn't those IO's in the market for sale still be there? Or, would they just disappear without the account information? I'm certainly not clear how that stuff worked. I just know that when my character on my main account was logged off, the character on my secondary account could still see those items for sale at the market.

When a new issue went live, nothing changed with what I had on the market..so I'm not at all clear how this copy of the game from issue 23 is going to go live and the market be ...empty of all items for sale. I wonder if the market is indeed empty, how many months it would take to fill the demand for purples and pvp ios, procs and such without having to purchase them from the market.

I guess I should also revamp my builds to see how tough they can get without the purples, given their rarity.

The market was run by a different company. The market software is not even in consideration in the proposed deal, so if the team does complete the deal, it will not get either the data or the user interface to it. They will have to write their own marketplace software, or find another vendor with marketplace software that will license it. So there is no case in which the marketplace data (IOs up for sale or stored at Wentworths, money tied up in bids or as the listing fee) will be restored.

I believe "he" was speaking of the Wentworth/Black Market type of "market" (used to trade influence for IO's).  This is different than the "Market" which you are speaking of in which the players could spend real money for in game items such as the hoverboard.

Before this spirals off topic, I'd just like to clarify that my original hope was to be able to transfer character data from 1.5 to APR or some other CoH game. This specifically has been given a maybe by Irish Girl depending on technology limits of the 1.5 and APR. I realize that actual character data and market will most likely not be saved. If 1.5 data cannot be transferred over I prolly would not be IO any of my toons until APR.

Anyone with a better arch/mm build or constructive criticism for the fully purpled build?

I've been playing around with the Leadership pool as a substitute for possibly leaping within the set. This increases the end drain quite a bit, but I think its pretty safe to rely on the huge boost Drain psych offers as its close to perma'ed.

Where all the IOs on the proc system in i23? I want to slot Gaussian's Synchronized Fire-Control set into the build, and I want to know if the +Build up was on the PPM or if it was just a 5% flat chance.

If it was just the 5% chance the set would be better off in the tactics power rather then in concentrate.

Ok, so PPM was being changed to 1 in i24, so build up remains 5% so I left it in tactics.

Cash shop IOs and the ATIOs were the only ones using PPM in I23.

The planned overhaul of everything to PPM was really going to wreak havoc on some builds...

The way I understand it with 1 PPM in a base 30 sec rech power (concentrate) gives it a 50% chance to go off, even if the rech was improved by slots and globals. I can see were it would wreak some builds, but man does it sound like I'd get more efficiency from that specific proc in concentrate.

This is the build I am planning if coh comes back, not going to be my first toon so it'll be a while before I actually get round to it so will hopefully have plenty of inf by then.
