NA // FB Themed Defender
« on: October 04, 2014, 01:53:29 AM »
Just before The Announcement, I started a new toon, with what I thought to be an interesting back story.

He was a Forest Satyr with a Natural Affinity towards Fire Blast(ing). So, obviously, he was thrown out of the forest.

He now lives in Paragon trying to limit the damage that Humans are doing to the natural world.

The coloring was an outfit based around dark green, with powers based on browns & dark red / orange. So it didn't actually ruin most peoples outfits when they had the Bloom effect going. Also, Autumn is my favorite season, and I thought it looked cool.

There is 1 x 9% Acc too many, so that makes me kind of sad, but overall I think the slotting is pretty solid.
Also, the powers aren't in order, its just me randomly clicking on things i think he should have.

Any advice ?

Spore Cloud is a major defensive power, and a strong -ToHit debuff. I would strongly suggest slotting it seriously with a -ToHit set like Dark Wartcher's Despair (5 slots gets you to a Recharge and a Damage bonus, which is nice).

Corrosive Enzymes is really not worth using on anything less than a Boss or AV, and for those its base recharge is fine. You can save a slot by taking out the Recharge.

Super Jump's 2nd slot should be another Zephyr, you can get the same enhancing as the Winter's Gift one and get a Ranged Defense bonus. If you do that, I would try to find another slot to get the 3rd Zephyr IO so you also get an AoE Defense bonus.

Wild Growth is permanent without the Recharge IO. Save a slot by pulling it out. Also, I slot my Wild Growth for Regen, it has a nice strong bonus for that. You can move the Steadfasts to Tough instead (you lose a bit of AoE but the Regen bonus that you get from putting a Numina Heal and Heal/Recharge in there are worth it).

Because Oppressive Gloom's End cost is so low, I generally just put 1 or 2 Hami-Os in there and call it a day. The slot bonuses from Stupefy aren't bad, but if you're not going to 5 slots for the Recharge, I would prefer to get more Acc/Stun enhancing from the H-Os than relatively poor slotting that you get from Stupefy.

Stealth's base bonus is too low to make it worth 4-slotting it. And as you said, the 9% Accuracy bonus from LotG is wasted. Just 2-slot it with LotG for the Regen bonus and +Recharge IO, and save the slots.

You might consider the Kismet in Combat Jumping if you feel you don't have enough accuracy.

You want the Heal rather than the Recharge IO in Regrowth.

I'm curious. Why no nuke? you can get it to fire off at over 900 damage with this combo.

Also, are you against hasten or is it just a matter of you didn't have the pool? It would significantly help out the recharge time for your Overgrowth which makes the whole build special, imo.
Cogito, Ergo... eh?

Ah, i only ever really used Darkest Night on my Dark//Dark Corr & capped WP// Tanker, so I wasn't really sure if it was worth slotting a set worth..

the Recharge in Wild Growth is just there to make it perma without incarnate, so I guess it doesn't matter if I'm building for that anyway.

Hehe, I always forget about Hami-Os, I used to just give them to friends :P

Eh, so used to 4 slotting LotG in any defensive powers I literally forgot what the set bonuses were >.<

/snip

No Nuke purely because the end crash kinda scares me. I like my blue bar.

Yeah, totally against Hasten :P

Anything else can be addressed entirely by looking at my main:

EM//REG//ENERGY Brute.

Once REG got ported to brutes, I rolled one up, lvl'd purely through missions, and retained AT LEAST 60-70% of my play time all the way to the end.

I was only a couple of sec of perma DP without Hasten or incarnate, had approx 125 end, 5 end/sec recov, and 4 end procs.

I used to leave beast run / sprint on all the time, and laugh at the yo-yo my blue bar became vs Carnies.

Ah, the simple times of bash-bash-bash-die-rez-bash-bash-...etc
