A random name.
« on: May 27, 2015, 07:56:41 AM »
Hello :)
I'm currently writing a story. No I'm not claiming to be a "writer" or claiming to be writing a brilliant novel or series. I really don't know what I have yet. But I just need a name for a character.. She's a small woman. She has a passion for gardening and fancies herself an herbalist.
She's an older woman past her prime. No longer able to go out and fight her race's wars. No longer beautiful or strong. Her husband is dead three years. Her son has disappeared. Her sister younger by 30 years has fallen into an addiction. She is not prepared for the cold season.
She cannot speak.

Just need a name nothing more.
:)

None of the character's features you describe impact what their name should be. We're not talking about nicknames, self-selected pseudonyms or civilian identities given to artificial beings.
Think more about her parents, their history and the naming conventions in the culture she was born in .

Why not give a few tries to the various random name generators out there? Then pick the one that you think is most fitting.

We were heroes. We were villains. At the end of the world we all fought as one. It's what we did that defines us.
The end occurred pretty much as we predicted: all servers redlining until midnight... and then no servers to go around.

Somewhere beyond time and space, if you look hard you might find a flash of silver trailing crimson: a lone lost Spartan on his way home.

well to be fair many names are sort of fourth wall breaking in that they reflect the character they belong to (Nihilus, from Kotor 2 is a nihilist for example duh)
So I guess in that same vein you could try naming the character after a plant, maybe Rosemary, Thistle, or something like that :)

I like Opaline or Rosamunde myself.
