Shield/Ice/Soul Tank

Hey guys. I've been working on a new tank and am having a bit of an issue with him.

I've got all the powers I want (Spring Attack is negotiable) but I'm having a bit of an issue with Acc and some with recovery. Any of you guru types want to take a stab at fixing up this build for me?

Offhand I'd say a lot of your accuracy problem is from using sets with typed defense in your attacks when you should be using positional on a shield. Also the force feedback proc is practically useless on shield charge. I can work on it more in depth later if none of the mids savants chime in.

Noticed the majority of the IO's slotted are for type defense when you're trying to achieve positional defense.  Kinetic Combat, Eradication, Basilisk's, Mocking Beratement and Thunderstrike should probably be scrapped.  The IO changes will provide you with more accuracy and some extra recharge.

Phalanx Fighting provides defense when fighting near teammates and you, yourself, counts as one teammate.  Go figure.  So add 3% defense to your total.

Got endurance up a bit.  Purple IOs help a lot since several provide a 4% end recovery.  Get 5 of those and it will increase by about .35 end/sec.  Or if you consider incarnates, Musculature and Agility Radials provide end gain or Cardiac amd Vigor provide end redux. There's also Ageless.

I went a bit less true to the original than ricodah. Removed build up and Spring attack (you won't be wrecking mobs with BU+SC anyway), replaced leadership with fighting, went with almost-perma hasten, endurance, super speed instead of leap (because it makes you invisible together with stealth io'd sprint), and a bunch of other stuff.

Edit: Didn't realize you counted as one ally for phalanx fighting. So replaced aegis in true grit with titanium coating and the build reached 3k HP. Also took the taunt set out in favor of more hp+regen+recovery.

I did one with fly but you could move stuff around.I also added 14 points of KB so you can do Hami Raids.

Neat, I summoned not one but 3 mids savants.

If you look at your defense totals with Phalanx fighting turned on and 0 allies on the slider you'll notice it gives you the base 5% for tankers. That's all you should be counting on according to paragonwiki, though it's entirely possible that the game itself counted you as one ally as well. I don't remember there ever being a discrepancy between my mids and in-game solo defense numbers, but that doesn't mean there wasn't one. If so I doubt it was intentional on the devs' part.

Ah, you're probably right about Phalanx.  Game has been gone too long, I'm beginning to forget everything.  I can't believe how easy it is to softcap a SD Tank to all positions with just moderately IO'd Deflection Shield, Battle Agility, Phalanx Fighting, Weave, Maneuvers, Steadfast and Gladiator's Armor.  Scrappers need to throw a few IO sets in their attacks and add Stealth/Combat Jump to get there.

Shield Charge + Ice Patch will be nice.Spring attack + Ice patch would add to to it as well if you are trying for a teleporting + Ice Patch theme.

I think Ricodah's is the one I want to use. It keeps all the important things I want and allows me to play pseudo buzzsaw for single target and a pretty decent aoe merchant when facing groups.

True.I wanted to use Teleport so you use it for Ice Slick when Shield Charge and Spring Attack are recharging.
One with the Shield would be nice also.Just too many picks.

I see most of you are building for soloing.I always team so my builds take that into account.If I have to solo a mission it can still run it but on teams it's that much better.Heat you have 10 points of KB.Maybe I'm wrong but I thought you had to have 14 for Hami.Still I see stuff I'm stealing from all the above builds. ;D

Never thought much about Hami Raids.. I did so many early on before they changed it that I had all the Hami-O's I could ever need, and enough influence to buy something if I wanted it.

I rarely solo'd. Almost always teamed.
