Kind of a cool compilation infographic...

Star Trek Online released a picture detailing all of the episodes and movies that contributed to the game's timeline of 2409/2410.

I'm tempted to click this but it will probably cost me a play day! ... lol.

Spent almost all my gametime looking at gear last night. I'm having a hard time finding what I want. Why don't they show the gear set bonuses..? I mean, how hard can it be. It would sure help when shopping for gear. I know I can pop in and out of the game every time I want to scout a new set...but... WHY.... (ha).

When your gear gets to a certain level those bonuses can make or break the set.

Ah well.

Fleet gear is very nice to have while figuring things out and is easy enough to shop for - it Shows what effects it has right on the label. Between this thread and last night's scouting I came up with some ideas for my only Fleetless toon (KDF... so I don't get autoinvites hourly) so that worked out nice  : )

You know what another thing is that's always throwing me on gear is when there is set gear, like that Kobali set, that has a piece missing. And it's like... WHY? Where is it? Whooo knows. *saves Fleet marks*

After re-scouring mishes and Rep stores, for my lvl 53 Warbird, I've decided to go for the Solanae set....minus one of those mysteriously missing pieces.. Which I guess was once available with the Fourth Anniversary Event Ship............ But....... It no longer seems to be the fourth anniversary... But... the mish still seems to be here!

oi..

It seems like a pretty decent set for a level 50 mish. Like lil digital presents, I'm looking forward to unwrapping what set bonuses there may be.

You are partially  correct the full solanae was a part of the anniversary event, however, I think there is still a way to get the last item and that is if the ship is in the zstore. I have not checked it out myself however.
One day the Phoenix will rise again.

Does it have to do with getting the other 3 pieces first...? And then hitting the Z Store? Or something similar? I read something like this when googling but don't want to get my hopes up.

Oops doh, I read that wrong... OK. I read something about being able to buy it in the Z store after running the mish (and clicking my heels?) three times and was thinking of that when first reading your post. Sorry about that.

Check this out!
(I ninja-wiki'd)

Solanae:
Set 2: Cyclical Shield Conduits
+3.6 Shield Power Setting+2.2 Shield Power (Bonus increased at low power)
Set 3: Structural Integrity Leech
Grants all of your Energy Weapon attacks a 2.5% chance to repair your hull for 100% of the damage they deal. May only trigger once every second. Max 1,283.3 Hull Restored. Min 320.8 Hull Restored

When googling After getting the first two pieces I saw something about + Polaron damage or something like this and I was like 'wow, how dumb was that I just ran this twice without even knowing the bonus'. The two pieces were an upgrade no matter what the bonus... but still. And now I see they are shweet!

I see now why Arcana is recommending Kobali.. (It's level 56, I can't get it yet anyway)

Miracle Worker.

(Maybe?)

Anyway, I am really glad that I had a Temporal Marauders queue from Hell.. It drove me right to a mish break and this one is not so bad to run, re-run, and I got lucky on the loot due to one or more of the bonuses could have been completely useless but they turned out nice.

Yippee. I'm gonna run it again. I can't use the Control Expertise in the Deflector but I can use the Drain Expertise and I lost some when I swapped engines (but gained some aux/weapon power).

I sure learned a lot about gear the past few days. I still don't know what I want but I do have a few things picked out and a better idea of how things work.

I'm not going for the uberest, yet...., but I am trying to build some themes.

Just wanted to say Thanks for the help. It dissolved a lot of mystery and I have a better idea what directions to go now.

Well, I downloaded the game for the PS4, and... now I have a brand-new Klingon captain.  Hurray for starting from square one.

I'm not even entirely sure how the controls work on the PS4 compared to the PC.  I have no idea how to activate my Kits unless I use up all of my items first, since they all seem to be activated by the same key, with no way I'm aware of to switch which item or Kit takes precedence.

I have a long way to go just to catch up to where I was, let alone actually hit the level cap.

If you send mail to @toonsquad I'll trickle some gear your way.

I'm not even entirely sure how the controls work on the PS4 compared to the PC.

You're ahead of me. I don't even know what controls are available on the PS4. Hopefully there's a way to make keybinds. Just started making them and am already hooked on them.

I just have to mention... that at lvl 54.... I soloed Borg Disconnected...

I didn't even know STO would let you solo a queue. What happened was, I got punted from the game when Borg D started - I had the PC on all day anyway, so, I took the chance to shut things down for awhile. When I leisurely logged back on later and saw myself still in Borg D.. I assumed I'd be punted ight out. I've had that happen before, didn't even make me raise an eyebrow.

But then.. the narration continues and the next thing I know I'm solo, deciding what ring to take.

The xp sucked! I mean, compared to Red Alert Borg, which is kinda uber XP in STO. But the coolness factor was off the charts. hehe

I think you can't fail Borg D btw.. It's just a matter of how many bonus marks you get.

I have to also mention... Warbirds are not OP, Escorts seem a tad UP. I mean, look at what you can do in a Warbird and then jump in your Escort. I'm currently looking at this through the eyes of a lvl 60 Escort Tactical pilot with maxed rep, maxed Pilot spec, and decent gear who shreds and doesn't explode nearly as often as he used to and a lvl 54 Warbird Engineer pilot with mostly generic gear and lvl 1 - 3 Reps and a few Spec points, and, I can only see the trend of my Warbird luv increasing.

Heh.  I remember the first time I was able to solo a Borg alert.  To me, that's comparable to the day you discover you can solo a level 50 AV in CoH.  Don't think I've ever actually been in a position to try to solo Disconnected before.

Kobali Deflector is mine.. Couldn't pass up those stats. I'm keeping the other 2 Solanae pieces.

Picked up a Cutting Beam.. Not enough Rep for anything else yet but have a few pieces in mind. I plan to get probably everything mentioned here from Rep.

Now my Warbird needs console and weapon planning. That's what I'm mostly playing until it gets leveled.

Ahhhh my Internet cup runneth under once again.. I was going to skip a typically mondo STO patch tomorrow and play some CO for the last week of billing but Verizon left a present in my inbox this morning that said I better just stick to checking mail.

Too bad GOG doesn't have Command HQ.. Steam does but I think I have to install DosBox again and remember how to use it and that kinda seems like a ripoff and a hassle for 7 bucks and a 1990 game.

I could hunt up a shareware Risk... that might keep me entertained for a week..

Maybe some backgammon..

Yay not only can I log on, but, I think my connection may be more solid than ever. Possibly, even, very good. So now it appears that I can go hurtling headlong into my data limits in even more style than ever.

Hadn't been able to really test things until now but it seems I'm going to not only get to continue enjoying the wonderful world of online gaming... I also didn't miss the double XP weekend so I can try and grind out those last Rom/Warbird levels that I've really been wanting to get.

There were some tense moments there when I thought the new wireless to wireless connection was going to go down in flames but it rose like a..... Phoenix. Lucky me! We all know how it is to lose our online gaming....! Glad I still have mine.

I'm up to level 26 on my new character.  I'm surprised that I've had three story arcs (including one I'm just starting) that are the same as the Federation side. Nobody seemed to notice that Klingons were running around a Federation base in the 23rd century, meeting up with McCoy and Scotty (who should DEFINITELY know what a Klingon is).

Now that my connection is solid I just want to say.... All you people with sucky connections, quit ruining my queues!

hehe

I really wanted to level this weekend. Of the ~ 3 hours I managed to be online... probably 2 of them were in a Temporal Marauders queue.. Good Lord... We were finally down to 3 people and fighting the last Dreadnaught and not even scratching it. After all that time.. Unwinnable.

I want to make a Klingon and fly at least a T5 Bird of Prey, and, still have at leeast one Science build to try.

I'm thinking Warbird is going to end up being my main. Not sure how the Escort fits in.. It's kinda a beast at this point and only T5 so I can't see abandoning it. I'm thinking it's going to be my new Jooc, and the Warbird would be the new Deeps/Senge at this point.

I seem to keep ending up with two dps mains.

Anyway.... Go go TG. You have to tell us some Bird of Prey stuff. The they are the fastest turners thing is what I want. They seem extra papery and I don't see what their specialty is as far as POW. Warbirds have Singularity/Fire at Will and Escorts have Cannons and Rapid Fire.

Birds of Prey have (turning) Speed and....?

Sooooo I was stocking up on Rep gear last night.. For some reason I had it in my head that the Experimental Romulan Plasma Beam *Array* was a *Turret*.. I've been building around that, somewhat.. So now I have to rethink things a little.

Very happy with my new Torpedoes! A few dozen replies back... I had this fantasy of spraying torpedoes like I saw other people doing. Well, it's fantasy no more...  : )

But now I have to move one or both of my forward launchers to make room for that free ERPB damage, or, dump a forward Dual Plasma Beam..

Not too far from Fleet Admiral.. 1 level and a little bit more to go. My Escort still has more punch and it needs some upgrades. I'm glad. The early levels with Warbirds make Escorts look ,,,, less attractive. We'll see how things look when they're both the same level and similarly geared. Warbirds have enough utility to make up for any small loss in DPS so I don't mind if my Escort can outdeeps my Warbird a little.
