I hate that last build...

So I rerolled and came up with this..

https://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/2dd50e867d91289c716f36c26eb70582

There is no EPS Flow or Long Range Sensors due to this is a torp build with Sci thrown in to substitute for energy weapon damage and for variety, basically. I didn't max control expertise or EPG due to, consoles. I put 2 points into energy weapon damage due to, Omni/Cutting Beam, which, are just some easy supplemental damage. Kinda like pets. Tac gets 26 points due to I want the Boff Recharge bonus and Team Frenzy so I can share it, on my Ultimate. The carrier pet buffs can be decent team buffs but I plan to ultimately put this build to work in a Pilot Warbird and then move to a Pilot Escort when Remans can fly Escorts.

I really liked the *idea* of a Defense (Reman Boffs and etc) Tank with FaW and Gravity Well for agro, mainly, and dps too, in the build before this one, but... In practicing that build with Tractor Beam (Grav Well is a level 3+ Boff Power and I can't use those yet), I saw that I was nonstop switching power back and forth from aux to weapons.

So, I gave up my beams and mega aoe agro and roundup theme but kept the idea of flying a Not Science ship, using Sci abilities, having a lot of Tac and still relying on weapons for dps. And, now I can dump all my power to aux and shields without sacrificing power to weapons because I'm using torps for the vast majority of my weapon dps.

Sooooo I finally saw that I would use the shared bank slots enough, and, that I needed at least 1 retcon (and, they just had a Pack sale and they didn't include this Pack..)...so... I got the Elite Starter Pack.

Surprise #1

I totally misunderstood how these things work. Once you buy one, you get the Reclaim, once....for Free, for allllll your toons.

!

I was like, wow! Not only do I get the retcons I'll use, and the shared bank slots that I used right away and will use often due to trading tradeskill stuff around... all my toons get a boost! No more Roms that are stuck with that Boff I Can't Discharge and so therefore don't have enough Boff slots for my needs in the newb levels.. More inventory slots! wheee.

Surprise #2

My most slot happy toon cannot use the Reclaim... Due to he has the max number of bag slots already I get the message that 'I am already at the limit' and therefore can't claim the bank slots or Boff slots (and whatever else there is, if that isn't it.. yes, I have a memory like a Steel Trap - and a meticulous mind for details. ok, not.)

I still rate this Pack as: Yippee!

~~

Forgot to mention that I thought the Reclaim was just another pack to *purchase*, and, I thought the purchase price was 1500 Zen... Sooooo when I found out that the Reclaim (it's kinda a weird term to use in this  case due to you aren't RE claiming anything, and, you cannot (RE) claim it again. I'd call it more of a... 'Claim'. Recurring claim? AHA! REclaim  : )  ..sorta.) is Free, and all my toons get it - new and old - that, was a nice surprise.

Hope they get the bug worked out that my slot happy toon ran into, soon! It is for sure a bug.

bye  : )

Wellllll I read that I should get ~ 4 per lockbox...soooo I guess that's ~ 450 - 500 million EC.. or.. a bunch of Zen.

That's a nice set : ) Was shopping for plasma torpedo stuff and kinda stumbled over it.

I think you get more Lobi than that. I got up to 900 real quick by opening Kelvin lockboxes with the keyring bundles to get the NX-refit.

The big patch is here the big patch is here! : D

ok I guess technically it's better called an update.

Something that you don't ever see is in this update. Jem-hadar toons start at lvl 60. They also have their own ships, and, like Roms (now!), they can fly mostl of the ships of their chosen Faction. I forgot all about the cap increase to 65 until now.

Too bad Jems have no Space Trait. They look nasty on Ground though.

So... As far as taking player's money/game currency, goes... If this is any indication how they plan to handle things now that Subscriptions are gone.. I say... yay  : )

I mean, hey, I have to spend Zen to play the new race and fly their ships.. but.. It's not much, and, alllll my toons can fly the new ships once they're unlocked.

They gave me that feeling like CoH did towards the end. "ohhh I want that". And they didn't do it greedily. They gave me a cheap Starter pack that gives me a T6 along with the new playable race, and, the ability to buy the big pack with allll the ships (and whatever), for a price that has my Starter price subtracted from it.

*clap*

Am I gonna spend, on any of the new stuff? No plans. I want to get my Rom in an Escort and go Raider shopping.. And make a new.... Rom or Reman.

Still, though.. *clap*. They just came out with a ton of new content in an effort to fun people into spending. Bravo. And hey, all those people have their sub money laying around collecting dust, sooo, I bet they do sell a few or more of those packs for cash.

If you can't tell - I'm rooting for them. Not only did they drop subs but they just put a ton of effort into development in a grand and creative effort to entertain us into spending. That's pretty cool.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just to add.. You don't have to buy anything to play a Jem.. The new packs they offer say you get them as a playable race, sooooo, I thought you had to buy them. But you don't. I just made one to find out. My bad!
The new splash screen is very nice..
And now, finally, I get to go blow things up. In the new queue! In a Pilot RomScort.. And then, probably work on getting that +3% crit chance bonus with a 2-piece set from Dyson Rep. And see what else I missed that's in this big update.
Didn't get a chance to play much after all, but.. did play long enough to ding 61 and get a free T5-u.. I'll take it  : ) Won't fly it but I'll sure Admiralty it and would have liked to have one as a newb. The new queue is .. busy, targetwise and otherwise. Good queue to run with scatter volley or fire at will.
The new Jem-hadar ships were getting pet agro last night. They look cool. And there is a Raider version.
Jems start out with decent Space gear and at level 60.
Oh, and, my RomScort is everything I hoped it would be. My Roms dumped their Pilot Warbirds for Pilot Escorts. I dunno why Warbirds have such lowwwww subsystem power. If I understand correctly, Singularities are supposed to add to your subsystem power as they charge (and then you lose the bonus when you fire off a Singularity power, as I understand it) - but I never see this happening. So I either don't understand how Singularities work correctly, or, they suck  : ) but have shiny buttons.
"Real quick" being over the course they were running a keyring promotion (20 keys and insta-MkXIV upgrade), so maybe a week. And probably 100 or so boxes.... :-[
soooo I guess that's ~ 450 - 500 million EC..
Doesn't your item not only go to MK XIV, but, it also goes Gold? I seem to remember that was why I was jealous of them in Fleet (chat).
MK XIV is of course Old School, now that MK XV is out... I wonder... Surely they'll update the promotion when it comes around next time.
Speaking of MK XV... Someone in DPS-10,000 (yeah, I'm in the weenie one, still...(it's cool)) said we're getting a double-item XP weekend... this weekend? Or was it next..
Speaking of DPS-10,000... Now that one of my toons is all Gold (no Rep Traits and still newbiesh, though) and MK XV (couldn't wait...)... I must parse..
Why are there cooldowns? So you don't fly through Rep? Then why remove the Swarm cooldown?
If a mission has Dil as a reward, cooldowns keep players from farming dil by repeating missions ad nauseum.  (Free dil = free Zen if it's not controlled.)  But the various activities that offer it, and the small amount that most give you, it wouldn't be a huge crime if something that issues 200 dil for 30-45 min of play isn't cooled down anymore.
I hear you. Some mishes are pretty simple to complete, too.
Queues and mishes are kinda two different animals. I mean, queues are pretty much *designed* to be ran multiple times due to you need a stack of what they reward to get what you want.
Queue cooldowns also aren't hard to defeat if your purpose is to farm dil. All you have to do is rotate toons into and out of Crystalline Catastrophe (the queue that is always full and takes ~ 3 minutes to complete) and you can nonstop farm 720 dil. If you want an easier version that even your level 10 toons can do - Repeat Romulan Minefield into infinity. It takes longer that CC but it's... level 10, and, no cooldown. Yup, it's 'only' 480 dil but it's not a very long queue to complete and you can start running it on the first day you start playing even if you didn't make a Jem-Hadar (that starts at lvl 60) and even if you only have 1 toon.
As far as that goes.. It is so easy to farm dil in STO.. All you have to have, is... time. The more toons and time (and the lower the boredom threshold) you have.. the more dil you can get.  If you want Dil, just do some 30 second mishes on multiple toons (research lab.. contraband..). It's not hard. It just takes a small amount of time to warp from here to there and to click some buttons.
But the various activities that offer it, and the small amount that most give you, it wouldn't be a huge crime if something that issues 200 dil for 30-45 min of play isn't cooled down anymore.
It's 480/720 dil for queues, and, some of them take 3 minutes or so and some take 20 or so. You can already farm a 3 minute, 720 dil, queue. Now.. If they make.... Undine Assault queues suddenly active by removing cooldowns, you have to play for a good 20 minutes to get your dil, if dil is what you're after. You're not going to do that. You're going to keep doing what you were doing.
Some Rep is harder to get than dil. Queue cooldowns don't really keep people from farming Dil as much as they do, Rep, due to your desired Rep isn't going to be available in every queue (like dil is) and some queues are pretty inactive. I don't want to call them dead - I would just say that their rewards aren't currently as popular.
By removing queue cooldowns in a rotating fashion it gives (more than none) incentive for players to get into allllll queues. Better to have to wait until your queue's cooldown removal day comes than to see the queue you want to be in, dead, allll the time.
*shrug* was just a thought. I don't really see the need for our current queue cooldowns except that they didn't want people to have the (theoretic, based on the queue being busy..) ability to (relatively..) fly through the Rep system to get the gear they want. Some queue's could use some life breathed into them. That's why I was thinking to rotate the cooldowns out rather than to remove them completely. To kinda highlight each queue (or group of queues) and give them a reason to be busy when they might normally otherwise never be.
Compromises never get agreed upon between devs and players, but they could try "diminished returns" in a fashion.  First queue of the day gets rep reward and rare item pack with a 20 hour cooldown (queue can still be played again, but not for rep points), then subsequent queues give dil/EC/blue or lesser rarity item packs, so there's still a reward to keep doing them.  That way, queues don't need a cooldown anymore.
Nuuuuuu.
Give us all of our Rep!
(For that sometimes long-ass (sometimes short), sometimes difficult (sometimes easy), often empty if it's not what's currently popular - but still probably Pretty Fun, queue),
But. Only remove the cooldowns in rotation.
That way.... we still have to wait to get Rep gear - it's still on cooldown - because we only get the cooldowns removed on queues one group at a time (Omega Rep.. Iconian Rep.. Maybe even Random Rep + Random Rep... just to mix things up!).
But then.. when the time comes to pharm.. we can do it up! *pow* *excitement*
Full Rep.. Full Dil... Full Queues. No OP Zen = $$ (or whatever your current currency, is) Pharming.
*bow*
Faction is still not great, even if you're a Rom who can fly more ships than anyone in the game.
There's a ship sale.. I've been wanting to get that Starship Trait that gives advantages to Gravity Well.. and.. I've been wanting to get an Escort for my KDF Rom. It just so happens that the Trait I want is in a ship bundle I want that includes the Escort I want.
However... The toon I want to give the Escort to is KDF (Rom) and the toon I want to give the Trait to is Starfleet. All my other Roms are Starfleet, but, I don't want to give them this Escort,  want it for my KDF Rom.
BTW. Isn't there, like, a lot more Starfleet ships than Klingon?
I am nearly always regretting the one KDF toon I have. He's a fun and unique (compared to my others) build, too. Some of my builds/toons I rarely play and wouldn't care about the faction thing nearly as much due to I never play them and don't care as much what they can or can't fly.
I don't know what the solution is, roleplaywise. But it would sure be nice if faction was just, gone. As-is it's already unbalanced in favor of Roms (no complaints!). They can fly more ships than anyone now.
It's not about spending less Zen or whatever, it's about buying stuff I know I can use whenever I want to use it. As-is, I look at stuff to buy and I start out with a ship... move on to a bundle (if there's Traits/consoles that make it worthy)... move on to a megabundle (so allll my toons can have the potential to get new ships/traits if I think that that might be a good thing at some point..) if there is such a thing.. and then move on to "too many decisions and the easy ones cost to much for a lot of ships I will likely never even fly" and then I usually don't get anything. Like this time. I'm tempted to get the Fed bundle to get all the goodies for my Feds and get the single Escort I want for the single KDF toon I have. It's paining me in my spending logic circuits, though. So I probably won't get anything.
I can't be the only one! Boggled by choices.. Buying for 2 factions, so far, for me, has sucked.
A lil update..
Sooooo I finally saw that I would use the shared bank slots enough, and, that I needed at least 1 retcon (and, they just had a Pack sale and they didn't include this Pack..)...so... I got the Elite Starter Pack.
Hello,
Thank you for the report. While we apologize for the inconvenience, this is unfortunately working as intended. However, we have gone ahead and credited your account 1500 Zen so that the remaining slots can be purchased manually for this character. Thank you for understanding, and please let us know if there is anything more we can do for you.
Wellll that's a kinda crummy bug, really.. I mean, you lose a lot of bank slots and the 2 Doff slots if you don't complain about the bug ("As intended", my patootie). However... I can't complain about the service. I got what I wanted in the end and they were prompt and polite about it *shrug*
P.S. Thanks STO
So, if this is right, the Elite Starter Pack can't be used to fill out an existing character's slots past a given amount?
May as well make it only available for new players.  At least they refunded you at the onset of the pack, I can imagine later on it'll be caveat emptor once everyone knows how it works.  Good to hear they at least treated you fairly Xev.
