So, if this is right, the Elite Starter Pack can't be used to fill out an existing character's slots past a given amount?

The Starter Pack and the Reclaim are two different things. The Reclaim, which only becomes available After you purchase the Starter Pack, allows any toon you already have and any toon you make in the future to have more inventory slots, bank slots, and Boff slots. It's a pretty sweet deal. Roms get needed Boff slots (Curse you Tovan Khev!) and they didn't skimp on the bank or inventory slots.

https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/10883424-the-elite-starter-pack

What the bug apparently is, is, if you are at or near (near enough that the starter pack Reclaim would put you over the cap) the cap for inventory slots on any of your characters, then that/those characters won't be able to Claim the Reclaim. This may also be true if they are at or near the limit on the other slots you'd get - Doff, and Bank - I dunno, inventory slots are the only thing I've purchased out of the three.

All my other toons can get the Reclaim. All my newbs will get it. It's still very worthy as is the Starter Pack itself. The worst part, for me, is, the only toon that I have that can't use the Reclaim... would get the most benefit from it - due to I'm on him the most and he's my main tradeskiller and always out of slots.

I can't complain at all how they handled the situation in my case, though. I mean.. They basically refunded me my purchase price. I almost hesitate to post their generosity due to you know how people like to take advantage of such things and I would really not like to be the one to help such people.

The Starter Pack is good stuff. Highly recommended upgrade for virtually all of your toons. Sorry STO, I didn't realize I could respond to your trouble ticket! Until it was closed.. I have sent in the customer service satisfaction survey you sent me and gave it all the highest marks, though.

Yeah I   think the starter pack is a must have purchase. If   I  remember  correctly  it also increased  the EC  cap to 2 billion  which I'll  never get to.

I use my KDF toons just for doffing. The  six KDF  toons I   have can make me 4k  -7k  dil a day for the 5-7 minutes  of it take to start the doff missions  and do the daily  Lore question. That makes me at least 24k  dill for 30-40 minutes  of work.

Yup. And Yup.

Luckily, unlike already purchased bag slots - having already purchased the EC cap raise doesn't affect your Starter Pack/Reclaim purchase.

I have a story like this that doesn't list the same methods but ends in the same results. I'm sure at least a few other players do, too. If you want to farm currency you can do it fairly effectively in STO without a lot of grind.

Even those 30-40 minutes start to feel grindy to me, though, and I find myself just joining queues to blow up stuff for the sake of blowing it up. I mean: I'm not really farming anything, not even Rep or Fleet marks (although I can always put them to use if they fall in my lap while playing..). With the same amount or less effort I could be farming my brains out but for some reason I mostly don't do it except when I get pangs of 'I really should farm some easy dil now and then...'. I've got a lot of farmer in my blood, too.

I'm still hung up on blowing things up in STO.

We mentioned, here, before, about where to allocate our power.. For me, this is kinda off the wall - I have a Bajoran Escort (ditched his Pilot Warbird) build going right now that has all power to Aux and whatever is leftover, goes to shields. His only beam weapons are rear Omni's that I consider to be, like..., low power usage Pets. 5 torps up front in his half Wargames/Iconian kitted ship. After a recent retcon he still has a whopping 3 Skill points unspent and no points in Control and no plans to get (gravity well) a control power (even though he is all Aux) and still he dominates. I mean, I don't outdps everyone but I rarely explode and I rarely don't make what's in front of me explode and it is a highly entertaining and different build for me.

Drain those shields and send in the torps, baby!

Sci builds.. got 2 I'm playing with. Tac and Sci captains. Mostly the Sci due to my Tac needs luv and I'm not in Sci mode atm when it comes to builds/gear. Sci is so easy. I mean, really.. You can't swing a 5km range tractor beam without hitting some nice Sci gear and the powers are so OP - Sci's great.

Escort Builds... The best for last. And first - first build ever was tac/escort.

I can be really slow with some things in life... Omni's and turrets are a good example. I finally realized that if you are running heavy cannons... you probly want to run turrets (puke). What the more interesting thinking at that time, was... if you're running Beams... (in an Escort) then you probably want to run those luverly Omni's.. like Kinetic Cutting Beam and any other Omni that has the stats you want and in Gold plx.

I have a new(ish..) Escort beam build running right now that will outdps keep up with my veteran Escort Heavy Cannon builds that are in full Rep/Mish/Whatever(Fleet..) gear and have all kinds of nice Traits, including the Rep Traits that this toon hasn't even gotten to yet.. This toon? He's using so simple gear (ok, the Gold weapons cost a small fortune), too. All Fleet and Store Bought Gold. He regularly parses over 30k in ISA. He's just fun, too. Rom Critmaster..

My 'old' Escort Pilots are trying some new tricks. Constable Secondary on a beefy (Human *puke*) Escort Pilot can make up from some loss in DPS due to lower crit chance. That's been entertaining.

Yup, STO has a good variety of ways to scratch the Blow-sh@t-up, itch. Soon as I can stop fidgeting with Ways to do it I want to start with different things to do it In. Need more ships. Have the Zen. Can't stop fooling with builds or just plain logging in and blowing stuff up long enough to figure out what to buy. Except that fairly new Escort with the Grav Well trait. Will be getting that. Or the bundle. Or the mega-bundle. Oh yeah, that's why I haven't bought that ship yet..

Someone has to keep you entertained...

This is my contribution to a sub-thread entitled: Random Babes at the Romulan Exchange

T'hee, my first Rom and only KDF, is lurking in the background. Kind of like CO - once you have some costume pieces you know what to do with - you really have some pretty decent control in the costume creator. I mean you can specify all kinds of body part dimensions besides the boob slider, as demonstrated, above. There must be like 6 different ways just to shape your NOSE..

I think it's a pretty under-rated costume/character creator. I didn't give it very high marks in the beginning but I didn't have hardly any costume pieces or much practice with the creator yet either.

Among other places like the C-store and mishes (and ?) Costume pieces can sometimes, not always, be available at Tailors themselves. Kinda handy. Found this out by hitting the ... Store button, at a Tailor. Found some pieces for 8k dil at the Fleet Spire Tailor recently that just happened to be wearable. A jacket... I think..

How do I get a T6?

This has to be the first 'big' question I asked and the first one I answered. Everyone has to have a T6.

How do I get a T6 I will Luv...

That's a tougher question.

The reason no one can answer that question for you is because no on plays like you do unless they're your weird cyber-twin. You're going to have different Traits, different Consoles.. different gear and abilities that you know about in general, and, your own playstyle of course.

The more Traits and Consoles and Game knowledge in general I have, the more picky I start to get with what ships I'll even consider buying. Things like how many console slots I get, where, and what Specialization (Pilot, Temporal..) seats if any are available, and what Boff seats I have (this has been a biggy, recently) start to actually become important and the question is no longer "How can I get a T6" - it's... "How do I get *this* T6" and I start browsing.

In the beginning it was all about stats. What has the most console slots? What has the most HPS? Biggest Shields? Fastest Turn Rate?

And so I got a Miracle Worker bundle..

They were the beast at the time. Most HPS of any ship. Most consoles of any ship. Plus it did bonus things if you spammed enough powers during battle. Can't lose, huh? I never fly those cows.. They don't fit my current needs or knowledge of the game, at all, apparently, because I don't enjoy flying them and even with all that power I explode a percentage of the time that is too close to the same as what I see when (unintentionally) tanking with deepsy Escorts.

So, don't sweat stats. And, the reason there are 10 billion ships and yet people still clear the shelves when new ones come out makes more sense to me now. Not only is it because they are new and shiny it's because there's a lot of little ways to make 'the perfect' ship. For example.... I have like 3 (warbird/raider/escort) ships right now that are real close to perfect for what I've been trying to do with my main torps/drain guy but they just now came out with the Escort that would fit him significantly better than all 3 near-perfects I already have. So I want it : )

STO: 10 billion and 1 ships and still room for more.

All of this.  Still love my Herald Vonph Dreadnought Carrier.  There's probably better ships, but it's still my favorite and none of the newer ships I've seen have changed that.

I could have had that ship for like 60 = 80 million (no more) in the Exchange, for weeks.. At least 1 week anyway. Na'Kuhl ships were definitely going for 60 million and I snagged one.

I've kicked myself to no end for not getting that ship and definitely not just due to price. It's well over 200 million, again, now.

Pilot Escort was my first T6 and the one I always go back to. The Rom Warbird version, I don't like. Too little subsystem power for shields.

It sucks playing 2 factions..

There is a newish Pilot Escort out.. I really want to try it with my one and only KDF toon.. I have at least 4 Fed toons I can think of right now that can and probably would use it.

So.

Do I just buy the ship I want? Do I buy the bundle (yes, likely, due to history has shown that it can be fun to try the same ship with different Boff seats/consoles and that it's not always bad to have more Epic consoles laying around). Do I buy 2 bundles so all toons get all creamy goodness? Or do I buy 3 bundles (the mega bundle), due to, why not, it costs the same as 2 - well, and, that way all of my toons get 6 ships. Even though only 3 of them are different from each other and the other 3 are copies with different ship skins.

I really only want 1 ship and after playing awhile I am OK with getting a bundle due to the above. Now... I'm up to 9. 6 of which are just copies of the 3 I'm OK with buying due to they are actually functionally different from each other and offer some value for getting all 3 (more Traits, consoles, different Boff layouts to fit your builds into).

So what do I do? Keep buying 9 ships every time I want 3 due to Faction? Do I clone and stop playing my only KDF?

I think I'm going to clone my KDF and play him like I always did - except as a Fed.. with a much larger ship selection...

My KDF.. I am only going to buy ships for when they are Uniquely KDF.. Like some mega-raider or some ship you cannot get as a Fed, that really interests me (none so far)..

It's not a perfect solution. My KDF is my second toon and has all Rep, good gear.., accolades.. all that stuff. But, as-is with faction, it seems the way to go. I'm not buying 9 ships to get 3 when I barely want 3 over 1. Better to just nip that little situation in the bud (OK a little past it..), right now.

As-is, after my Fed clone is geared and built like my KDF, I no longer see any reason other than to pop into Fleet once in awhile, to play my KDF.

Finally got the Andorian Pilot Escorts.

I just now, this second, realized why someone would want those butt-ugly Rom ships in the Rom bundle.. They are cross faction.. Sort of.. I mean.. ALL of your Roms can fly them... whether they are Fed or KDF.

Damn..

All my active Escort pilots are Roms.. Including the KDF that didn't get a ship..

OK wait.. I'm still good.. My Fed Sci guys want the Trait from the Sci Escort..

*whew*

Damn that Faction! See, now I know I'm cloning my KDF for sure. It's just less confusing..

Anyway.

First impressions coming from one whose first T6 was an old version Pilot Escort:

The old Pilot Escorts have better consoles. I thought surely there'd be a console in the new bundle I would use, but.., none are (seeming, so far..) as nice as that cone of death console (combine that with the new Tac Captain power for much added AoE yum) in the old bundle. That console is so good that it makes the ship a better ship. The +25 to mines and torpedoes is normally pretty usable too - meaning, I'm not giving up stats for a power.

I *do* like the new Pilot Escort console with the 60 second (invul...?) hangar pets. I dunno what their deeps is but it seems nice enough to make losing the cone from the old Pilots less painful. You can have them PERMA! too (default is that you can summon them for 60 seconds, every 2 minutes). I heartily would like to do so, but.. man.. To give up 3 console slots to the 3 consoles you get in that set (also, oddly, the D.O.M.I.N.O. console we got awhile back is a set console) seems just too painful. It's too much to give up for the fun of the pets. Except... maybe for my yet to be rolled KDF clone who doesn't have as many nice consoles to choose from. That may make re-rolling my KDF as a Fed less painful and more fun - having those pets, perma.. in a high deeps Escort.

Everything else, except a slight loss in turn rate (but we get +5 more power to weapons..) is better, in the new bundle. The hull is bigger, shields bigger. Better Traits. Last and definitely not least, it's like they read my posts about the old ships: f/x "I can't tell the front from the back, sometimes..'. In the new ship, it could not be more clear, except, if the ship was unnaturally big for an Escort (they are all small). I mean.. everything in the Front of the ship says "Front" and the same for the back. I didn't especially like the '+' shape I had in the back of my ship, at first, and then.... I noticed... when I follow another ship to line up for a cannon attack... it's like having crosshairs! I mean, these babies are contoured. They took all my old complaints and made them vanish. There also seems to be a lot (more than average) of versatility with all the Universal Boff seating.

Now I just have to see if I can live without my cone.. That baby shreds (especially when combined with the new Tac power..).

I've tried other Escorts but I always end up back in a Pilot. This update to the line seems pretty decent so far even though the (not tested very much at all) consoles are initially disappointing. Sure do like what they did with the skin in the Fed version. The Rom and KDF versions Both are kinda butt ugly (to me, of course...) now that I think of it.

I'm not even gonna tip-toe around the issue anymore.. If you are new to the game and don't know already - if you want to not throw away the highest crit chance you can get in the game.. Make a Rom. Make a Rom and then go buy Boffs with Superior Romulan Operative and put them in your ship.

If you don't care what your Deeps is (I dunno anything that beats SRO) you can make any other race. Or you can still make a Rom.

I don't know what to tell you about faction. All of my toons except 1 are of the same faction and I still have problems. I bought a Pilot Warbird so my KDF toon could try the equivalent of a Fed Pilot Escort and I really don't like the Warbird. I just now bought a bundle of ships and one of the toons I want to fly them most, the same toon as before, is the wrong faction. So now he has a Warbird I don't like and I have an escort that's perfect for him but is the wrong faction, so, he flies an Event Ship.....

The toon I want to fly the new bundle second most is a crappy Human.  So now I need to clone the crappy human as a Rom, and, the KDF Rom as a Fed Rom before I can get the 2 builds I want most in these ships. I would have cloned the Human much sooner had it dawned on me at some point before now that crit chance is just as important to my favorite Sci build's dps as it is any other.

It's kind of a mess. I was staring at my character creation screen of 8 level 60 - 65's earlier, thinking "man, I'll only play 2 of these.. 3, when I can get the KDF a ship I like".

Probably the smartest thing to do in my case is to buy Rom bundles going forward so I don't have to worry about Faction. I'll only be playing Roms, so, that solves the Rom-only part of the ship, too : ) Thankfully I really didn't care for the Rom version of the Pilot Escort bundle I just got or I'd really be kicking myself. more.

I mean, all of my toons don't have to be able to fly all of my ships... Sometimes I've found it's handy when they can. Even when I don't stick with the ship I wanted to try - at least I had the chance to find out. Without having to buy more ships..

If I can help someone else not have this issue after spending quite a few hours playing and gearing their toons, that is the point of this. What you pick at the character creation screen does matter. What you pick when you have to pick a faction matters too.

Be prepared for some heartache in STO unless you know about SRO (and care about Deeps) and Faction (and care about how many ships you have to buy/your toons have access to).

I actually am re-rolling the two toons and I stick by all I said before. I'll chalk the experience up to that huge learning curve I said STO has when I started playing.

Never realized how un-original Roms can allow me to be with naming, until now! You have no idea what a treasure that is to someone who sucks with names. D'Xev (Sci powers & gear & traits/Tac/Escort Pilot) is born.. I can't decide if I want my Torps clone (T'Xev...) to convert from Engineer to Tac... or Sci.. during the cloning process.. I think I'm going to make him Sci. If he ends up sucking then I'll re-roll him as all - Sci, in a Sci ship, which I already know works well, and then roll up a new Tac/Torps/Escort toon to satisfy my main torps build requirement. If that's too papery then I'll do a direct clone, which would be, Torps/Eng/Escort.

It does pay to map things out, some, if you are a min/maxer. At least I never gold-geared my Humans that I'm abandoning.. They do have some gold equipment.. but most all of the gold they have is thankfully... account bound.

I LUV my new Pilot Escort bundle btw.. It's not perfect (consoles..) but it scratches some nice itches. The consoles are actually sweet.... if you're Sci. Flying an Escort. My all-sci/torps toon that I rarely play became by far my favorite toon soon after sitting in the pilot seat of the first Escort that his build fit perfectly into. Oh, and, the 'hangar pets' DO perma and are NOT invul, and, they do seem pretty decent.

OK so I have to take some time to brag a little.

T'Xev made it to 50... He's got a split focus on torps (Fleet mk xiv) and sci (err 2 mk xii Fleet sci consoles so far and my superior choice of Boff skillz).

*ding* 50. So, naturally, I hit up the CC queue for some fast and easy Fleet marks to buy more Sci consoles and.. stuff.

*POW* 3rd place.. Not only did I not explode.. 3rd place.. 1st try.. Level 50.

OK, fine, I had an easy team. It couldn't have been that low of a dps team though because the fight went fast..

I run the queue for the second time ever *POW* 1st place..

*bow*

Liking the Faction re-roll so far. I'm re-rolling the toon that always had faction issues.. This time, he is Sci instead of Eng, too. It's been an acceptable amount of defense so far as well as nice DPS buffs, and, for the whole team. I always run queues so I'm always in teams so that's a nice bonus.

It's an interesting build not only for the shreddage but due to it works well with completely different types of gear. Torp focus or sci focus.

Anyway.. Cool stuff. Was a long haul there for awhile to get him to 50 and the Rep system, but, an XP booster and Romulan Imperial Minefield got me through with a level ~ every 2 runs with the runs getting progressively easier.

If you're an Escort pilot, primarily, you really have to get the Bajoran Event T6 ship when it rolls around. It makes getting to 50 so much nicer.. It's a pretty decent ship! Vanilla, but a nice vanilla.

Anyway... had to brag. Wasn't so many posts ago I was complaining how my ..main kept ..exploding in CC advanced. Now my newbs are placing 1st! Go me.

Random Tip of the Day:

Romulan Marks (and decent XP).

If you want some fairly easy Space battles (check your difficulty..) that you don't have to queue for and give pretty good XP and some (10ish) Romulan Marks... Go to New Romulus and hit these systems that I shall now paste from a list that was gathered from another source and that I keep in a text file, and then enter them for Patrol Mishes..

Japori, Beta Thoridar, Archer, Narrenda, Gamma Eridon, Starbase 234, Carraya, Acamar. They're in the New Romulus area.

I'm in need of Romulan Marks and the XP is pretty decent too. (Think: Starship Masteries/Traits and/or leveling)

Meanwhile, I can stay queued for Breach. It doesn't pop often but it's fairly easy, too, and gives out a plethora of any marks. In this case I want to run it for Romulan marks. I can also queue/run Red Alert: Tzenkethi for 50+ marks when that timer runs down.

That's it for Random Tip of the Day: Romulan Marks & good XP that's fairly easy and fun to get in Space.
