Icon and Windows 10 don't work together.
« on: May 26, 2016, 11:52:39 PM »
Hey there.

Last summer I was able to successfully download and play COH Icon. It ran great, and brought back a lot of nostalgia.

Recently I downloaded Windows 10, and Icon doesn't seem to be compatible with it. Every time I have tried to open Icon, I receive an error message. Is there any way I can fix this? I'm not a techy person whatsoever, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I just entered Icon and I have Windows 10.  I did have Icon loaded on my computer before I upgraded to Windows 10.  I had Windows 8 pre-loaded on the computer when I got it.  It may be something else preventing it from running.  Many people with Paragon Chat had issues with their Anti-virus.  I don't know if Icon users have had the same issues or not.

The error message says that my cityofheroes.exe file is not a supported version. Any ideas?

Maybe the executable got corrupted?  Have you tried re-downloading the client?

This is a very noob question, but what is the client and how do I re-download it? Like I said I'm not a techy person.  :-\

The "client" refers to downloaded programs and files that were required to run City of Heroes/Villians on a player's computer.

You can re-download it using Tequila again.

The term "Client" is used to distinguish between the programs and files that were downloaded on player's machines vs. the "Server" which housed everything else necessary to actually play the game City of Heroes/Villians.
