Badge Races - Monthly Contest - Sundays in Pocket D
« on: February 13, 2017, 03:25:19 AM »

Badge Race
Monthly Every Third Sunday at 5:30pm Pacific/8:30pm Eastern in Pocket D.

We're making badge races into a regular contest to be held monthly on Paragon Chat.

Once a month, players will compete in a race against time to collect as many badges as possible.  Unlike the Badge Races held during events, this contest will last at least an hour of race time, possibly longer.

Instructions: The event is held at Pocket D (/mapmove 83) at the Blue Side Elevators (where all characters land when they arrive at Pocket D.)  The event can accomodate up to 21 players max.  (Each player will be on a team to facilitate the timer.  One timer, seven players.  Since I'll be multiboxing the timers, I can handle three teams.)

Rules: To participate, you will need to roll a new toon.  Then talk to the Badge Race Judge before the event starts.  Complete Rules for the Badge Races as well as tips can be found in the HERC Board.

Badge Race League! The current plan: we'll score 1st through 3rd place as follows --
  • 1st Place: 10 Points
  • 2nd Place: 6 Points
  • 3rd Place: 3 Points

Every race where you place in 1st, 2nd or 3rd, you score points during 2017's races.  Counting February, that's eight chances to get on the leaderboard.  (If not enough players show for all three places, the unearned points are lost.)  February through September are public contests, any player can participate.

The 6 who have the highest league scores will be invited back in October for a Semi Final. (League Points only get you into the Semi-Final, nothing else.  ANY of the six players in the Semi-Finals can place high enough to make it to the Grand Prix, regardless of prior standing.)

The top three winners in October will compete again in November for a final contest: the Badge Race Grand Prix. The winner gets a Forum Title and other goodies.

By participating and winning, you are not obligated to appear for the Semi-Final or Grand Prix.  If you cannot make it or you do not confirm your appearance, the next person with the highest amount of points will be asked to play in your place.  We'll try to get your permission before 48 hours of the event where possible, with runner ups notified shortly their after.

HERC/Titan Network Personnel:  You are welcome to participate, but you will not score points towards the Grand Prix or place in the top three.  Bragging rights, however, are all yours.  (Your results will be listed among the other players, but in parenthesis.)

Questions? Ask them right here.

Results will be posted in this thread.

INAUGURAL RUN - February 19th, 2017 - EVENT CLASS

We'll run for 60 minutes, so teams will assemble at 8:30pm, the race will launch 10 minutes later.  At 9:40pm, the clock will stop and players who appear at Pocket D will be counted.

In March, we'll try for an Endurance Race.  The timer will be 2 hours instead of one.  We'll also report 10 places on this board, but only the top three will get points for league progression.

RESULTS

February 19, 2017
@Pengy - Badge Monkey 2 - 157 Badges - 1st Place

Season
@Pengy - 10 points

There was one contestant this month, so Pengy got 10 free points and set the pace for the rest of the season.

March 19th, 2017 - EVENT CLASS

Due to the low turnout, we'll try Event Class again.  One night, 60 minutes, get as many badges as you can.  Pengy has started things off with a bang at 157 in an hour.  We'll see if someone can aim higher, or give Pengy a run for their money as well in March!

April's contest will be determined by March's turnout.  If less than seven people, we'll stick with Event Class until the Anniversary.  If we get a better turnout, we can try Team or Fixed Class.
