Real Life Supervillain Lairs

Visiting my daughter in Hawaii, and drove out to Diamondhead on Oahu, outside of Waikiki.

You can see Diamondhead from our airbnb and I told my wife, "That's a volcano!" Well, it was a volcano a million years ago or something, but you know.

So, we drive around and find the entrance to the Diamondhead National Monument. You drive up the side of the mountain (what's left of it after the last big explosion, anyway) and then through this tunnel bored through the mountain. The tunnel has a very "military engineering" feel to it. Odd to say that, but there's a palpable difference between a tunnel built by a civilian highway department to move cars and one built by the Army to get a job done.

And there, right in the middle of the crater, is an old Army base from the early 1900's or so.

So, yeah. At one time the USA had it's own real-life supervillain lair in the middle of a volcano.

All it really needs today is a pool of sharks with lasers on their heads.

"You know you've played too much CoH when?"

 ;D

Honestly, I'm a little jealous.

Those escaped through the hidden water tunnel and now are guarding the sunken city of R'lyeh.
