Well, resistance kinda caps out at 75% for archetypes that can use the Kinetics power set, so you're probably better off focusing on defense that can lower your chance to get hit to as little as 5% (assuming the enemies have 1.0x accuracy and are of your level or lower; higher-level foes get a bit of an accuracy increase).

Of course, it's best to have both if you can manage it.
