I also have been playing around with scripts of my own utilizing XML dumps from MySQL and other ISAM like databases, where it creates something resembling a web-service, without the security-holes.
Uses MD5 encryption with user based 5 character salt for both sending and receiving data by development level applications since most linux hosts don't support non-localhost connections. GRAH!
I'm very knowledgeable in this field, hell I make scripts for fun and for work, though the ones I make for fun are usually more stable lol.
