Looking for some critique on a 50 NRG/Elec Blaster.

Hey guys, this is my first attempt at making an IO build for a level 50 Energy/Elec/Force Blaster, my goal really was to get the best overall damage output but to keep a good level of endurance.. Aka damage as high as possible, accuracy as high as needed, with good recharge/end. Not so worried about the defensive side.. I don't know if this is close to final, or how many big or small tweaks can be made to it.. I'd like some advice before I commit to it though, it's gonna be expensive. (I still have a couple of levels to go too!)

Take this all with a grain of salt. I have an Energy/Elec Blaster and his build is way different than yours. I built him before Purples, but am quite happy with his build; I would not go back and add them in.

Here are the things I see with your planned build:

You say you want lots of ACC, and decent RECH/END, with lots of overall DMG in your powers. But I don't think you've addressed those issues as well as you could with the proposed build.

You have SO MUCH (planned) global accuracy, you really only need to slot for it lightly in your powers. That'll let you plan for more RECH/END in each power. Plus a few slots can be moved around for some more global recharge.

Remember that Lightning Field only does minor damage; it's actually quite difficult to Enhance it with damage pieces to pump up the damage. Damage procs and outside buffs will do more for buffing its damage, so focus on accuracy/endurance/endmod instead. This is true for pretty much any Minor damage power, especially AoEs. (And the Chance for Fire DMG proc is quite tasty.)

There are actually a handful of things I would do differently with this build to make it more efficient.

For example, I would drop explosive blast and pick up Charged Brawl or Havok Punch instead. Then if you wanted you could drop 6 pieces of Hecatomb for better stats that Posi's.  But I'm not a big fan of Explosive Blast because it always seemed to do such a great job of scattering targets.  Which kinda sucks for things like Lightning Field.

Speaking again of LF, the Energy Manipulator Chance to Stun is also very tasty in it.

Especially with Power Sink, you have an incredible amount of Recovery and +Endurance avaliable. I honestly don't think you'll need the Miracle Unique, and instead would either put a Numina Heal for another +12% Regen (set bonus in addtion to enhancing the Regeneration of Health) or the Regenerative Tissue Unique for another 25%.

I would drop Aid Other because I've overall found Stimulant to be more useful. The number of times I've had teammates breakfree-less outnumbers the times they've been green-less. (Plus, it's nice to get 'em up and running faster after using an Awaken.)

I don't know how in love you are with 6slotting Scirocco's in Nova and Thunderstrike; the 6% defense to Psionic isn't bad,  but if you changed the slotting to 4 instead (tho' the AoE Def bonuses are nice), you might as well do so on both powers. I think all the 'nova' type powers come with a great inherent ACC bonus; and most tend to use Aim or Build Up beforehand anyway, so you could easily get away with no Accuracy Enhancements in it; just do DMG/RECH and put the extra slots elsewhere.

The problem with Purple sets is (on 5-6 slotting) they go way, way overboard on two stats (usually the 'main' component and recharge), PLUS the 5th bonus is global recharge anyway. I normally don't plan for Purples, or if I do it's just a couple, because usually when a toon hits 50 I want their build to be 'finished' or close to it. And they're just so expensive... (Plus it's a long, long time to wait to 'experiment,' as it were. What if all those Purples didn't give you the results you wanted?)

The other problem I see with people who pick up Mids and plan builds for the first few times, especially now with purples, is they go 'oh look I can slot purples and get super stats on everything!' Even tho' it's not usually the most effecient thing to do. Often when I see a build that's full of purples my first thought is 'oh they have Mids and know what a Purple set is.' (That's not to say it's what you've done here. I don't know you; how long you've been playing; how well you know IOs; how much planning you've done before, what the state of your toon is, etc etc etc. Take no insult, it's a general observation.)

Personally, I've yet to use a single purple IO. They just don't seem warranted in most of my builds, even before I get on to the hideous cost...

Hehe, but yer so cute and tiny! *noogies*  ;D

The only toon I've really purpled out is my Mind/Psi Dom.. for you guessed it, Permadom. (Because I refuse to buy Luck of the Gambler recharge globals.)  Otherwise I have a couple purples here and there on a few toons for fun (Chance for Placate in Poison Gas Arrow, for example), because... well they're just so gosh darned expensive.  And you can build very efficiently without purples, with the added benefit of not having to wait until 50 to slot up.

Which I think I'm quite happy with that as long as there aren't any silly mistakes or wasted slots still.

And yeah, purples = big rip off, but this is really something to aim for, a new goal for me. One that looks like it'll take an awful long time to attain given how I only have 100 million inf. ;)

I would argue that you might want some end redux in Temp Invul, since you'll have it on most of the time anyway. I think you could pinch that End Redux slot out of Power Blast and it would be a good tradeoff.

Otherwise I'd say go for it, but don't be afraid to tweak and change before you start buying the big pieces. :]
