Can we download the "alpha" that was up for a while, or the database that comes with it?

I can use it even if it does not work correctly, and would like a database with PVP IOs.

Thanks.

Hi all,
Steiner as others have said I can not thank you enough for taking up the reins of Mids fantastic work.

Is it possible (worthwhile maybe) to get MIDS released in say PvE and PvP updates? So for example work is done on PvE code and released. Then when the PvP content is ready that can be downloaded on top of the PvE content.

That way people can use Mids for part of their toons (if not all of them for those that don't PvP) and when the PvP code is ready grab that.

Cheers

NOTE: This is broken! Use at your own risk! The only reason it is up here if for the more weathered beta-testers and MxD users to list all the errors and issues as form of (much needed) help.

Doesn't seem to want to read MxD Builds saved prior to it.

Plus it moved the data to a new folder, and the database files have been renamed to .mxdb. If you rename the enhancement db to the mhd and update the images you will have a comprehensive set of up-to-date IOs, however the selector box runs out of room in the old version.

I've thought about it... but MxD is fully capable of it, via the PvP/E flag in the upper right. I'll figure it out and it will be something everyone will appreciate.

Will the bug fixed version read the alpha-generated builds? o.O

Edit: by the way, is there any way that I can get the accolades in the builder? =x

No Keenin,

I think Steiner is referring to the fact that some people have been whining "So, when are ya gonna release it, when huh huh huh when?"  And it's really sickening, because as Steiner has stated, a lot goes into making the whole Mid's program work.  Some people really don't understand that.  Also, these same people, act like they are owed an update.  They can't seem to understand that both Mid's when he was in charge, and now Steiner, don't owe all of us any new updates at all.  What they have done for us, and as Steiner hopefully will continue to do for us, is free.  Their time and resources go into the planner.  These are the top 2 things that the people who don't appreciate the program don't understand.

I voted for a small fee to download.  This way Mids can be Steiner's part time/full time job.  At $5 per CoX issue that comes out to about $15 a year.  With just 1333 downloaders it can be about 20k a year =)

I wouldn't mind paying $15 a year to have a functional software.

If a fee were required to download the builder, I believe we'd then be into legal issues with profiting off of NCsoft's intellectual property.  That's not a corner anyone wants to back into.

Not expert opinion or anything, mind you, but I think that's true.

Thank you Nightfire9. You've pretty much hit the nail on the head. And I'm sure KeenJin was just sympathizing that all changes won't please everyone... someone will still find a reason to hate it.

(BTW, Sup Jin!)

BAD EEEKK! Don't make me get the water bottle!

Can't and won't ever turn Mids' into a pay-for program, even if it wasn't a violation to the NCSoft EULA Titan agreed upon the second we used their information on our sites and services.

I treat Titan like my full time job whether you see it or not... I'm unemployed and spend at least 90% of my day (~8am - ~1am-following day) doing something Titan related... with some obvious breaks so I don't go burning myself out.

What you fail to realize here is that MxD in all it's glory was in-fact an experiment. Mids stated to me that he did indeed start it as a "test" to see if it could be done.... now the game was much simpler then and Mids hadn't really put much thought into it being a modular program (meaning things could just be added seamlessly). Then issue after issue MxD grew, and before you knew it, the source became a tower of bricks.... but as any architect will tell you, remove ( alter, etc ) one of those bricks and the tower comes toppling down.

My data drone and I are going to experiment with some really cool ideas to get MxD working the way it should... hell he's even gonna learn VB.NET to help with the code half of Mids too! I'm no Mids, neither do I pretend to be him... but he developed this application with little regard towards it ever being in someone else's responsibility. It's a helluva learning curve, but I'm getting there!

*Hands Steiner the biggest super soaker ever made to put EEEKK in his/her place* :)

By the way, a big kudos to your data drone for going above and beyond to help you the best he can :)

Also, don't be discouraged by those who won't be pleased with changes and those who find a reason to hate.  If anything, look at the experience you've gained just from learning and tooling around with the program itself, and other programs that are involved.  I think it'd look really good on a job resume, for a career that has those skills involved.

Depends on what else you've got in your resume :P

I remember while I was working at Pi Studios, we got in a job application for an artist whose previous work experience was "Cashier at Ross", graduated from an online-only college, and whose portfolio consisted entirely of poorly drawn scantily clad or naked women, usually in the exact same pose. (And when they did wear clothing, the clothing was always the same cut) And when I say "poorly drawn", I mean "I could draw better" -- and there's a reason I'm not an artist.

If I were that guy, I'd replace the entire resume with tooling around in a database, and it would be a big improvement.

For my own resume, tooling around in the Mids' database wouldn't add much. Working on cross-platform Mids', on the other hand... ;)

Steiner's Resume by Summary.

Nov 2005: Steiner get's data entry clerk job for 3rd largest Customs broker in the US (Norman G. Jensen, Inc) @ $9.50/hr.

May 2006: Get's board and writes a VBA script (with no previous knowledge of VB) to expedite entries.

July 2006: Get's hired as a "Senior Import Administrator" for the same company with a 2,count em 2 dollar raise!

Handles "American Sales" which is a multi-million dollar company, (if you've ever see plus toys or random table sets at bargain stores, there is a good chance it was purchased from American Sales).

Developed and Launched a full-blown VB 6 (company was behind the times... lol) application that expanded on original idea from May. Also developed an Outlook VBA script that did what would take 10 employees at 54 ports; a 40 hour work-week to do, what this script did in about 3 mins. (Hard to explain, but it saved them a lot of money!)

January 2008: Finally turn enough heads and get hired to IS (Information Services, like IT but without the hardware background) as an "Application Support Specialist" @ 15.98/hr. (lol, notice the underlined acronym?)

Developed 3 more version of my application and made Buffalo the first paperless office and helped get the rest of Jensen (nation wide) on the road to a green office.

Released my application to 20/52 ports (some where getting merged, others shut down).

February 2009: Got laid-off due to "economic diversities in the Canadian demograph" (where most of the customs business comes from). Everyone else in the company got a 10% pay cut from their already small pay for big work checks and from what I'm hearing still hasn't improved. As both of my former employers there are still laying people off, specifically the ones that have been there the longest (aka making the most money).

During this stint at Jensen, I managed to expand my knowledge in PHP 10 fold on my off time, though I've been "coding" since I was 12. (HTML and eventually php-nuke at Lycos.com lol).

I have a helluva resume for someone who's only 23 and has no formal education in anything he does, but them's the breaks... employers WANT accredited references of your knowledge, and a college degree almost promises that. Without it, I'm just another enthusiast and companies don't put a lot of trust on that.

I've been told I have wisdom far beyond my years more times than I can remember to count... but it always makes me smile... just wish there was a way to make it more relevant to job prospects.

lol. Sorry for all that, just quenching the curious minds I guess.

If anyone wants to use Mid's with Full PVP IO support, you can download the unofficial version I made here.
http://www.mediafire.com/?tmnmynkl0mn
It took me quite a while to set this up. Enjoy. ;)

I didn't add in any other changes such as the Dominator damage buff, and whatnot. So you'll have to wait for Steiner to release the full version if you want those.

Edit:Here's the link for the self-extracting version if you can't open the file in the top link http://www.mediafire.com/?ymnjxvn4d2m

Right-Click and and drop these in your "Data" folder from
Code: [Select]
C:\Program Files\Mids Hero Designer\DataFolder.

BACK UP THE ORIGINALS! As this might not work for everyone and it would be easier to just restore backups than re-install MxD.

This should give you the live numbers. NOTE: The files provided here are only for the older version of MxD, not the alpha I posted in this thread, as those numbers up to date.

Hi Steiner,
these 2 links are they for PvE i15 or something else?

Also the MATH link takes me to another webpage with a table of data. Do I need to copy the text, paste into Excel then Export?

Sorry if I am being stupid.

Thanks you again for your hard work
