Is someone still offering to put IO sets together? I haven't played this game in a couple years, so my effectiveness of making a build may be off. Kinetic Melee's Power Siphon is the only thing that might draw me back to the game. I know all the information isn't available yet and I don't mind waiting for an update to be released to Mids' before this build is even worked on.
Here's my info:
1: Tanker Dark Armor / Kinetic Melee
2: PvE tanking anything, usually with a group
3: Pretend like Inf is no object. I can farm it or replace IOs with an effective, cheaper alternative until I can afford the purples. Besides, I think purples may be easier to get with the new alignment system.
4: From the primary set, Cloak of Fear, Oppressive Gloom, and Soul Transfer don't seem too useful. The rest do. From the secondary set, I think I would skip Repulsing Torrent (eww, cone knockbacks) and Body Blow. The rest seem to contribute well to damage or AoE aggro management. From the pool powers, I want more defense and resists to assist with Dark's mediocre defenses - Combat Jumping, Tough, and Weave seem necessary. Acrobatics seems like a good choice to fill Dark Armor's vulnerability to knockbacks. Obviously, stamina is required on any build.
5: Travel powers aren't important to me, as long as I have one. I think Super Jump is the easiest selection because of Combat Jumping and Acrobatics being in the same pool.
6: Physical Perfection looks like a great epic power to assist with endurance.
7: Everyone hates cone knockbacks.
8: I want Dark Armor for its ability to tank Psionic enemies. No other armor set seems to come close to Dark's potential. Also, I didn't see any power sets with any significant buffs to psionic defense or resistance. Thermal, sonic, or force field support characters can fill the gaps in Dark Armor's defenses and resistances. In fact, I think Dark Armor is the only set with the potential to cap every defense and resistance and all at the same time. It would require only minimal outside buffs. I don't think Stone Armor can come close to capping Psionic resistance and has to leave Granite to get psi defense.
Sets should add resistance and defense to energy and psionic. Capping defense to slashing, lethal, or melee would help with solo or unbuffed tanking. Global recharge, hit points, recovery, and extra endurance are great bonuses, too, but tanking comes first. Adding a little more knockback protection would supplement Acrobatics.
Thanks in advance to anyone to attempts this build. I attempted it once, but I wasn't completely happy with the results. If someone can come up with a better build than I made, I would be happy.
