Yep.  the UAC was preventing it from loading the database, like you said.  After that, the problem was using builds from St0n3y's designer which it wouldn't load.  All problems fixed now.

Kewl, So; our problem and Solution!

Problem:
When installing the new Mids, make sure to check your versions!

Located on the Title Bar. It should read 1.6 or higher from this point forward. And the database issue should reflect the current live issue on the game client.

Solution:
The best solution for this is to right-click the Installation exe and set it to "Run As Administrator" so the installer edit and re-writes all the files properly.

If you know what you're doing, turning off your UAC will also prevent this from happening, however I would only recommended this if you know what the repercussions of turning this off are.

Now this would be for all of us who do NOT have the Veteran travel power at lvl 6.
Mids is now to default that you can have a super-speed or the power Fly at lvl 6, and well... I don't have that (and I do not think I'm all alone).
Could the default still be lvl 14? Or is there a button i've missed that fixes this option?

A problem I had on my Vista system is that after the install, Mids still seem to be keeping the old database.  I had 1.4 installed and made modifications to the database myself at some point.  So I dug around and found that Vista kept the modded database in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Mids Hero Designer\.  After removing those files, everything worked perfectly.  Just thought I would post this in case anything similar is happening for anyone else.

Yeah, I agree. I didn't see a toggle for it, but would love to see the default be level 14 as the requirement, and to toggle ON the 60-month reward. I'd fathom most players aren't at that level yet with their vet rewards, so it would make sense to cater to the majority on this one.

Otherwise, this is a great update, and I personally can't think Stoney, Steiner, and Energy Aura enough for their efforts in getting this going for Issue 16!

Quite helpful, I was victim of the same thing when I "upgraded" to Vista (kept the UAC on) and re-installed it. The app will look there, but it looks for the \Data\ folder first.

St0n3y just made it so tiers 1,2,3 can be chosen at level 6, however tier 4 still requires lvl 14 and 2 other pool powers until we can add such a button, which I am working on getting to function as we speak.

Shouldn't that still be level 20?

Mid's has been running fine for me for a long time on a Vista machine, and I've had no problem having it auto-update before.  However, it won't install new version now.  :(  It tells me there is new version available, and after telling it to get it, the new version downloads.  Then almost immediately, a "user-defined breakpoint" is hit, with the following exception:

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
The clock in task bar shows the correct time and date.  However, right before the first time I tried to update, my system did a hard crash.  However, everything else seems to be running fine.

Mids won't update properly from 1.4x to 1.6x - you need to uninstall your current Mids (make sure to backup your saved builds!!), then reinstall with the new download from www.cohplanner.com

Ok, maybe i was running 1.4x.  That would explain it.

But ...

Why did it never update itself from 1.4x to 1.5x?  Every time it started up it said that it was checking for updates, and never found any until 1.6x.

Just an update ...

I did as Aggelakis suggested, and now I have v1.6 installed and running.  Thanks. :)

Oh, I had indeed been running 1.4, but I still don't know why it never updated itself to 1.5.

There was no 1.5.

My failure release a few weeks back could be titled as such.. or just imagine that the first two digits of a version are the issue it works for, lol.

1.6 = i16, 01, first build of this version, etc etc.

I am having problems with version 1.6, specifically with regards to the Electric Armor defense set.

Mids' recognizes that it is there, and I can build a toon using it. However, when I click 'View Totals' it doesn't show any of the numbers for any of the powers within the set that are toggles. It picks up the totals from Grounded so it would seem that it is recognizing the powers, but not taking the numbers from the toggle powers.

I checked in some of the other defensive sets and noticed that within the database that under the 'Basic' tab that they were set to 'Toggle defaults to On' and so I tried changing that setting, but it did not appear to affect anything.

This is a very frustrating situation. Everything else I've checked in this version seems to work just fine. Is there a fix for this or something within that particular set that I need to do in order to make the 'View Totals' work correctly for the Electric set? It is making it difficult for me to build my toon and guage which IO sets are doing what I want to accomplish without it showing me my totals from my main defensive toggles.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the new version 3 different times, scanned all my directories to make sure I've removed everything I can find that looked like it was related to Mids' Hero Designer, but the same problem persists.

Any help to get this resolved will be greatly appreciated.

In the area where your selected powers show up, there is a hollow circle next to any powers that have effects there.  To make them show up, you need to click that circle so that it turns green.  Screenshots in a few to clarify
