Lore AMA
« on: September 21, 2012, 10:42:44 PM »
So... should anything from the lore AMA be included? If so, should it have its own special category, and be indicated on pages in a special section (titled "apocrypha", or something like that)?
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

I'm working on sorting the Lore AMAs so that questions are easily found and linked: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA/Sorted Tell me what you think!

FYI, I added the Lore AMA to the wiki, under the "Lore" category: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA

Given that Positron's post calling for questions said that unless noted, the answers are canon, and the fact that it's a pretty major piece of info, it seemed like it should get its own page. As far as adding its content to relevant pages, I think that can be a case-by-case thing.

I also added an article for the Story Bible: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Story_Bible Mostly so that it would exist, but also to link the parts of it that were released. They're old, but interesting.

Ok, so I found out that there was a Part 2 released (and a new AMA every year until the questions stop!): http://www.onrpg.com/articles/editorial/city-of-heroes-9th-anniversary-loregasm/

So obviously that should go on the Lore AMA page on the wiki.

Here's the problem: the {{hidden}} template is doing something weird, and every time I try to put the content of the Loregasm in it, clicking "show" displays {{2}}, not the content. Without putting the content in a hidden box, that wiki page will get real long, real quick. Help?

Post your content to the wiki then revert it so that we can take a look and see what's going wrong where. :)

Never mind. I had tried various parameters, but I just now tried the "content=" parameter. That worked.

I do seem to recall a discussion about another template, perhaps the NPC dialog template (which I think uses the same stuff as the hidden template) that was messed up when apostrophes were used? Not sure if that's what the issue was, but the Lore AMA does start with bold / italic apostrophes.

Does the content contain an equal sign? If so, that's the source of the issue. If you have any equal sign, anything to the left of the first one is the parameter name and to the right is the value.

So if your content is "A really long sentence that says 1 + 1 = 1."  Then "A really long sentence that says 1 + 1 " is taken as the parameter name. Putting "content=" at the beginning makes "content" the parameter name instead.

That's why non-trivial templates usually have parameter names rather than just using positional arguments.

That appears to be it. I've never encountered that issue when using the hidden template before, so I only tried the "content=" on a whim.

The issue I was thinking of earlier was using EdNote within the Hidden template (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Template_talk:EdNote), which I assume is entirely unrelated to the issue I was having with the Lore AMA.

Speaking of, I added part 2.

Further speaking of things like the Lore AMA, I added a section to the Multiverse page titled "apocrypha", which gives details from the Story Bible about how the multiverse works. It is noted as non-canon. It seemed like a good place for it, but I'm not entirely sure it's appropriate. Thoughts?

Apocrypha seems fine to me. :)
