Music that would be cool to use
« on: December 10, 2012, 04:23:47 PM »
There are several soundtrack pieces that have been going through my head ever since the Black Friday announcement and all the way through the closure.

I'd love to make videos of my characters using these, but I don't really have the drive to work out demo-editing right now. Maybe someday. I think some very SIMPLE videos I could do. I've certainly got enough raw demo-record footage to work with!

Anyway. Here's links to some music I'd want to use and explanations for what it is that's inspiring me when I listen to them.

"Time" off the soundtrack to Inception

The entire soundtrack for Inception is amazing.

In fact, I felt the Inception soundtrack REALLY worked out well as an overall score and theme for running the arcs of First Ward and Night Ward. But maybe that's just me.

But "Time" which is played out in the final minutes of the movie before the credits roll also really speaks to me about the end of the game and the server shutdown. It's melancholy, powerful, and like the final scene in Inception - ambiguous in it's final moments. When I listen to it, I see in my minds eye a montage of camera fly-bys of all the zones and what made them special. I see snippets of "The Immortal Game" event from Arcanaville being played out. I see players trading hugs and farewells and calls of defiance. And the shutdown of the servers.

But that final moment of the music seems to say "...but maybe... it's not the end..."

(but that also may be a function of me having seen the movie and remembering the wobble of Cobb's top/totem right before the cut to black, so you might interpret that differently from me)

X-Men - First Class Soundtrack

X-Training

Rage and Serenity

The above three would form a "suite" in my head. I'd make one video where all three tracks above flowed from one to the next in the order above.

During the first track, I'd show the majesty and the heroism of Paragon City and it's heroes. Establishing shots of my heroes and those of my supergroup flying, superleaping, and superspeeding through sections of the city. If possible and enough time, show sections of the Rogue Isles and Praetoria as well the same way.

During X-training, shift to showing us in action. Singly and as groups. Fighting various foes, keep it fast paced, cut with the music. Show off some of the unique powers or powerful uses of standard powers.

During Rage and Serenity - show the end announcement and then the resolve of the community - in the form of the torches being lit one by one and raised, finally culminating in either that shot of the 3500 heroes by Leandro or something like it. Emphasize the community of the game.  "PARAGON CITY LIVES... It lives in all of us." printed on screen at the end.

Back soon with another post with more music soundtrack ideas.
