Classic Comedy and it's influences
« on: December 30, 2012, 03:57:18 PM »
I love classic comedy. And old radio shows. And it bothers me to no end when I get a reference, or see a take on a comedy skit and hear young people say upon seeing the original skit "Oh look, they got that from <insert newer show here>". I dunno why, maybe it's because I'm a history minor and like a linear order to things. But I think we should compile a list of things to show people so they can experience the joy we do upon getting the joke. :D To that end, I'll start.

Abbott and Costello - Who's on first

and now, awesome stuff that was influenced by that very very awesome skit.

Scrappy Squirrel - Who's on Stage

and

Jimmy Fallon - who's on first, the sequel

Yeah, ok, maybe I'm just old and crotchety. But if nothing else, and you clicked these links, you have laughed for a good 18 minutes or so. :D
