Word Up.
« on: March 08, 2013, 09:05:56 AM »
This is the first video I saw of city of heroes demo-record commands, and it has forever stuck with me. I can't hear this song without thinking about city. This is probably the wrong thread, but I feel as though we all need a morale boost, and what better way, then with the dance gun?

Thanks my friends.  Those videos had me laughing out loud, literally.  They were the perfect medicine for melancholy on a Friday night when I'm missing our game home.  I really appreciate all the hard work y'all put in making those videos.

Now if only I could get those songs out of my head, chuckle.

Great vid, I just wish  the original Cameo version of the song had been used.

There is also at least one required costume piece for the replacement games in this vid :)

Funny how 2:27 sounds like the Zero Wing intro.

But how exactly would you redo it ? Using the camera sweep mainly ?

Oh, no. Much more varied (and faster-paced footage), better text effects, better demo-editing.

And probably better camera work. :)

Why do you think he was dancing and singing in the video?
He was a little lucky and got someone else to do his dirty work for him...thousands of times.

Ok, so he was a LOT lucky.

I didn't craft the Avatar.  I found it Here

As for the "I rather go out a Hero then a Coward" is a quote from Galaxy Quest (1999) Guy Fleegman played by Sam Rockwell.  He relies he's the extra character the RED SHIRT and expects to die anyway.  So instead of being the coward he grabs a gun and prepares to go out fighting.  The full quote is "I'm just a glorified extra, Fred. I'm a dead man anyway. If I'm gonna die, I'd rather go out a hero than a coward."

For the signature yea that's mine.  "One way or another... Heroes will fly again."

I had forgotten that bit from Galaxy Quest (my brain is more of a steel Sieve than a steel trap these days).  Thank you for elaborating!   8)

A while back, I changed the words......

We built this city, we built this city on fun and friends
Built this city, we built this city on fun and friends

You might not know me or recognize my face
But we all care who goes to that place
Knee deep in the villains enjoying the fight
Now the bad news eating up the night

Someone always playing corporation games
Who cares they're always changing corporation names
We just want to play here... someone stole the stage
They call us unimportant.. write us off the page

You play your hero, listen for the glowies, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on fun and friends

It's just another Sunday, on a King's Row street
CEO's have got the choke hold, oh then we just lost the beat

Who counts the money underneath the bar
Who rides the wrecking ball in to our avatars
Don't tell us you need us, 'cos we're not a bunch of sheep
Looking for Paragon, cause love of the game runs deep

(I'm looking out over that IP bridge
Out on another gorgeous sunny Saturday, watching the Tsoo and Family)

Don't you remember the fun?

(It's your favorite game, in your favorite game world
The city by the statue, the city that rocks, the city that never sleeps)

Boombox rocks the music, do the monkey dance, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on fun and friends

We built this city, we built this city on fun and friends
Built this city, we built this city on fun and friends

I dimly remember them being featured in one of the early CoH video contests. Back from when there was actually marketing going on. Thanks for bringing those memories back :)
