I am minorly obsessed with Warframe. It's a free-to-play third-person-shooter combination single-player/multi-player (either PUG-finder or by invite) sorta-mech game. Shoot the boom booms, slicey mcslicerton (or you can throw knives/shuriken!), cool special attacks per "character" (you are technically one character with many "warframes" (organic mechs) that you 'load' into...sort of). Almost everything can be gotten through grinding in-game, but some of the good stuff is pretty cheap for real money. I dropped $50 (nothing to put money into...haven't been subbing to/buying games at all recently) and got an attack pet, warframe, pistol, and melee weapon and I have a ton of points left over.
You shootie mcshooterson some dudes, some mechanical critters, some alien things...I have no sound on my computer so I have no idea about the lore except what small amount of dialog is announced on the screen. I am not so obsessed with it that I've looked for a wiki, so I haven't read up on it.
The only thing I don't like is limited ammunition, so on really long missions you can - and will (I literally just did) - run out of bullets. It really, really sucks. Additionally, soloing is somewhat hard, but it's a good change of pace from the facerolling most games are going for lately.
