Kickstarter Observation (not CoH or successor related)

A weird thing I've noticed on kickstarter is that 3D printer kickstarters are gaining massive amounts of success. I have found 4-5 different printer ideas that have been funded at a minimum of %1000. The highest I've seen so far is $3 million of $100 000.
